Hines Ward to retire?

Did Hines Ward play his last game? It appears he might have. A Steelers player texted to me the expectations around the team was that Ward would soon announce his retirement. That doesn't mean it's set he will. That means some Steelers players believe it which means it's likely to happen.

Ward is a different sort of dude. He could decide to hang on for one more year. But for the moment that doesn't seem to be the case.

Ward is clearly done physically. He just doesn't have the burst he once did. He was held without a catch against the Broncos and has become an afterthought in the Pittsburgh offense.

Yet, to me, he's a sure Hall of Famer. He became only the eighth wide receiver to reach 1,000 catches, had a lengthy and productive career, and won championships. He was one of the toughest receivers I've ever seen.

And it appears we've seen the last of Ward in the NFL.

Hines Ward to retire?

I know he's thinking about retiring after Ray Lewis cracked him in their 2nd meeting this year.  He left the game and was never the same.  He has all but dissappeared in the offense and is like 4th string now.  That's now but as an overall player he was by far the most physical reciever in the game.  He did was most wr don't want to do and that is bring the physicallity to the defense.  He would run around cracking db's with halacious blocks and bonecracking crackbacks before they changed the rules.  He's motto was since you want to knock my socks off I'm going to knock yours off.  If Ward is retiring he is definately retiring as the most physical wr the past decade.Cool

Hines Ward to retire?

take note steeler fan no comments about his horrible off field behaviour

Ward got one drunk driving charge in his 17 years in the spot light, that is the only thing he has EVER gotten in trouble for. Your spelling of behavior is way more offensive than anything Hines did off the field. Ward was a GREAT player, first off his stats are a little low because he played on a run first team more than half his career, but there are things about him that don't show up in the stats like how he took a leadership role in a way very few wide receivers ever have, not to mention he was the unquestioned best blocking receiver for over a decade. His post season stats are only outshined by Jerry Rice in NFL history and he has two rings one of them with a SB MVP to go with it. He will be in the hall, because he was way more than just a WR. But he is not retiring anyway, this report is bogus.

Hines Ward to retire?

Who really cares???? Hines Ward is no longer a relevant player in the NFL.   He is a drinking and driving bum now.   Just one less bad character player on the Squeelers!
