There was a report the Indianapolis Colts are at least considering disgraced former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as head coach, who is on the Indianapolis staff as a gameday consultant. I checked with a Colts source and he said this: "No way in hell."

But this is the interesting part. The source explained that owner Jim Irsay likes Tressel and does want him to have some sort of role in the organization (a new head coach will have some say in that of course). Which is, well, incredible. If you remember Tressel resigned as Ohio State coach after it was determined the Buckeyes had numerous rules violations under his watch. Ohio State later self-vacated its entire 2010 season.

It would be totally out of the question for the Colts to make Tressel a head coach now. The Colts would be the laughingstock of the NFL.

But it's possible the Colts may keep Tressel in some capacity. Possible, not definite.

Once in 10 years QB huh??? Try Matt Stafford as that guy...thats your true next elite QB if he isn;t already there in some minds.

Now as far as Tressel...I don't know how I feel about the guy getting a top gig in the NFL...has the guy earned it?  Maybe so based on his record at Ohio State.  I'm from Michigan...a U of M fan as well and I know the hell that man deliveried to us for 10 years...the guy is a good COLLEGE coach...I'd like to see him as a cordinator first in the NFL and see how he handles play calling in the NFL...but hey what the hell do I know...anyway go Colts...but most of all GOOOOOOOOO LIONS!!!

This article brought to you by DISGRACED journalist Mike Freeman, who was fired from the Indianapolis Star before he ever wrote an article because he lied on his resume about graduating from College.

Tongue out

It takes one to know one, I guess.

Pure hypocrisy.

The media needs to drop the word disgraced.  Tressel made a mistake -- like about half the other coaches in the NCAA and NFL.  Who's perfect?  The Colts would in no way be the laughing-stock -- only in the small minds of CBS.  Tressel is a great coach and would probably bring Indy back to the top.  He is also a very decent man, not deserving of this small-minded carping.  His "scandal" pales in comparison to what has happened at Penn State, Syracuse, Miami, etc.  Tatoo-gate.  Yeah, right.

BREAKING NEWS

The Colts already are the laughingstock of the NFL.  I think they should make Tressel their GM and see how long it takes for him to game the salary cap by providing extra benefits to his players.  Maybe they could get free tats of horseshoes on their glutes.

The stakes are higher in the NFL, though.  Instead of getting a player free golf at a country club, he would have to actually give the player the country club.  Maybe Terrelle Pryor could get a job coaching a position he could actually be good at in the NFL: tight end.

"You STILL failed, during your tantrum, to respond about the Facts! He was run out of town BOTH TIMES FOR CHEATING!!"

At no point was what I said a "tantrum".

Secondly Tressel wasn't "run" out of YSU. He left for a better job. One called OHIO STATE. And yes he was "run out of town". But not before he proved his coaching acumen.

Finally what do NCAA issues have to do with NFL issues? The ONLY rules broken are AMATEUR RULES. Its not like he's paying refs. His PLAYERS cheated. He covered it up. Somehow I don't think players being paid is going to be an issue for the Colts since its PROFESSIONAL SPORTS.

At no point in your incoherent nonsense have you made a valid salient point. You keep grasping at straws and mischaracterizing the details. (Like YSU being IAA not DII & Tressel being "run out of town")

You're entitled to your own opinion but you aren't entitled to your own facts. And you've yet to prove anyone should give any thought to any of your opinions since you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Tessel will be ok in the NFL. Tattos are mandatory, right? And not telling the truth, isn't that what injury reports are for. Still, his coaching sytle has not shown any resemblence of a Pro game. Maye if Indy trades for Tebow, Tress could make a run of it at Indy.

I am a Michigan Fan/Alumni and i was bummed when Tressel was fired/resigned what ever they want to call it for players selling thier stuff, pretty weak for a firing if you ask me, when you look at what other college get busted for doing. The man can coach thats for sure, even though he rolled Michigan all the time, i liked him for bringing back the rival thats was getting really boring with the Cooper years with Michigan rolling OSU for 10 years like Tressel just did to us the past 10 years. I was hoping that with the hiring of Hoke it would bring the Michigan program back up to par, but now I hope they get a good coach again so the rival will still have its excitment instead of the 10 years spurts, because when a team wins all the time it takes away from the rival. So lets see what the next 10 years has in store for both of us. Go Blue!!!

As I recall, Tressell WAS SUSPENDED FOR 6 GAMES. Same as his players. He was suspended by the Colts, not the NFL though.
