Source: 'No way in hell' Tressel will coach Colts

There was a report the Indianapolis Colts are at least considering disgraced former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as head coach, who is on the Indianapolis staff as a gameday consultant. I checked with a Colts source and he said this: "No way in hell."

But this is the interesting part. The source explained that owner Jim Irsay likes Tressel and does want him to have some sort of role in the organization (a new head coach will have some say in that of course). Which is, well, incredible. If you remember Tressel resigned as Ohio State coach after it was determined the Buckeyes had numerous rules violations under his watch. Ohio State later self-vacated its entire 2010 season.

It would be totally out of the question for the Colts to make Tressel a head coach now. The Colts would be the laughingstock of the NFL.

But it's possible the Colts may keep Tressel in some capacity. Possible, not definite.

I have a long history with the Colts. When they first came to Indy, I lost out on the lottery for tickets when Robert Irsay sent my money back to me nine months later ... without interest. I later earned season tickets.
Jim Irsay was the Genearl Manager and the Colts struggled badly for years. The Indy Star once published my piece where I asked:
"Would Jim Irsay be the General Manager of a team his father DIDN'T own?" The Colts refused to sign draft picks and "hold-outs" were common ... until that Halloween night when he pulled the trigger in the Eric Dickerson deal. But the Colts still struggled with Jeff George and other bad players because of Jim poor personnel decisions. Finally, Jim hired one of the Tobin brothers for the GM post, after their stint with the Bears, the Colts started making the playoffs. Polian followed that and even greater success.
But I'm starting to feel like it's the old Jim Irsay, who might not be making the rights decisions. Jim is a likeable guy, but I hope we don't return to days of old ... the Colts of the 80's and 90's. Do any of you remember our QB Mike Pagel?  That poor guy would literally bounce his screen passes to his receivers. And I paid good money to see that! Anybody out there who suffered through that with me?

Pimp. You STILL failed, during your tantrum, to respond about the Facts! He was run out of town BOTH TIMES FOR CHEATING!!
When did I throw a tantrum? When did I advocate for Tressel to coach anyone? I just said his hiring would be no worse than Carrols in Seattle. Settle down dude.

not much changes in life. if the man at the top (irsay, in this case) LIKES YOU, it doesn't matter what you do wrong....you will always have a

job...in this case, a good paying job!  nobody said life is fair.

If he's a cheat and a liar then New England would be a good fit...

Are theys seriously looking at Marty Morningweg and Wade Philips?
God I hope not with Marty. Wade would be okay with me. He wasn't given a fair shake in Dallas with Jerrah. Nobody is with Jerrah. But, I have heard the same rumors and they make me cringe.

he was a cheat and a liar at both youngstown and osu.
however in the NFL being a cheat anda liar are encouraged.
he would probably be a good coach.

keep him away from the college ranks. He belongs in the NFL.
There is nothing wrong with his coaching skills, he is great at it.
If I was a colts fan I would actually want Jim T more than Marty M or Wade P.

Tressel should be SUSPENDED for all his "handy work" at Ohio St. Is it the geeky glasses and tired looking vest that make him look innocent? Nfl likes to suspend players for behavior outside of work...but this convict Tressel?..why is it any different than a player getting in a fight at a club?

i think that is a smooth move. it was not caldwll's fault the team played so bad. i for one did not realize to what extent mnning make the colts a good team. of course luck cannot come in next year and be anywhere near the olayer manning is. having said tht i do no totslly disagrre with taking luck in the first pick. luck also appears to be a once in ten year quarteback. that is still to be determined.
