There was a report the Indianapolis Colts are at least considering disgraced former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as head coach, who is on the Indianapolis staff as a gameday consultant. I checked with a Colts source and he said this: "No way in hell."

But this is the interesting part. The source explained that owner Jim Irsay likes Tressel and does want him to have some sort of role in the organization (a new head coach will have some say in that of course). Which is, well, incredible. If you remember Tressel resigned as Ohio State coach after it was determined the Buckeyes had numerous rules violations under his watch. Ohio State later self-vacated its entire 2010 season.

It would be totally out of the question for the Colts to make Tressel a head coach now. The Colts would be the laughingstock of the NFL.

But it's possible the Colts may keep Tressel in some capacity. Possible, not definite.

@RU4OSU2
Who at SC paid for Bush family to stay in a house? Name the person that attended SC, coach, alum or fan that paid any money to house the Bush family, name that person!!

You can’t because the person that did this had nothing to do with the school, team or football program. The person was a convicted wanna be sport agent.

No one at SC paid a blue dime for the Bush family to stay in a house. If you don’t have your facts right keep your mouth shut.

This unscrupulous agent did not inform any one on the coaching staff or administration that he was paying for the Bush family to stay in a house. I am equally sure the Bush family was not stepping up to the plate and informing the coaching staff or administration that they were living in a h use paid for by this criminal.

Your head coach lied to the man that was his boss, he lied to the NCAA. He covered up the fact that the players on his team were selling Ohio State rings and other gear for a profit.

The AD and president of Ohio State should have been honorable and resigned. Nope they threw Tressel under the bus alone. I m sure there had to be some type of financial arrangement made for Tressel to accept sole responsibility.

Tressel is a good coach whether you like him or not. Indy should consider hiring him. Who cares what other people think around the NFL. Its not like Cowher or Gruden is coming to Indy. Is there a coordinator out there that is better?

Any information these days from a "Colts Insider" needs to taken with a grain of salt.  Remember, this organization had Caldwell interview potential D Coordinators the day before he was fired.  Irsay may say he likes Tressell, but that means nothing as of late.

Maybe the Colts will retain him so he can show them how to self-vacate their entire 2011 season.

Freeman still grinding on that axe. Since the word "disgraceful" is being thrown around loosely, well, that you are still holding down a job as a writer Freeman is disgraceful to CBSSPORTS. See how easy that is?

Jim Tressel is a first class a-hole who went out in shame.  I don't foresee him back on the sidelines.

There really isn't much more to it. Guys in the NFL get in trouble all the time--but they're dealt with. Coaches don't have NCAA regulations to deal with. NFL coaches are not in charge of a bunch of their players--if a player screws up the player is disciplined, not the coach.
