Super Bowl Shoutout: Can Gronk be effective?

OPENING HIT: Part of me wonders if Bill Belichick is pulling a fast one. That somehow Rob Gronkowski isn't as hurt as the Patriots are saying but that's far-fetched even for the tricky mind of Belichick. Which means Gronkowski is really badly injured.

This isn't a question of whether Gronk will play. He'll likely find a way to be on the field. The real question is effectiveness, and based on everything I hear the chances of Gronkowski being a factor are almost non-existent. You don't recover from high ankle trauma this quickly and the fact he still hasn't practiced is the biggest indicator of the seriousness of the injury.

My guess is Belichick will try and use Gronkowski as a decoy. Put him in the game, run a few routes maybe, use him as a blocker if possible. But the idea that Gronk will be Gronk with that kind of injury is a bit far-fetched.

Unless Gronkowski is even tougher than we think which seems impossible.

Super Bowl Shoutout: Can Gronk be effective?

bigbangtheory17, you do not have your head up your "arse" everything you said was true!  It just goes to show that know matter how you prepare all week or how much you are favored or an underdog, what it comes down to that it is just "ANY GIVEN SUNDAY" meaning anything can happen at anytime.  I pray the PATS WIN and bring home the trophy where it belongs, but they are going to have to bring their "A" game and as much as I love Tom Brady, he CANNOT make the mistakes he made with the Ravens.  As far as Gronk is concerned he is one tough guy, one of the toughest I have seen in this game.  It helps that he is young and hungry, I believe he will play in this game one way or another.  As a former dancer and dance teacher I know how hard it is to come back from a high ankle sprain, but mind over matter is sometimes a wonderful thing!  I just don't want him to do anything that would ruin his foot and cut his will be wonderful football career short!  Of course I don't think Coach Belichick or the rest of the Patriot staff would use him if they didn't feel he could handle it and come out being okay!  I was just glad to hear that he did a limited practice yesterday that is a good sign!  GO PATS!  #1PATS FAN in Colorado!

Super Bowl Shoutout: Can Gronk be effective?

I am one of the biggest football fans, I follow it all year long and can't wait for August when pre-season start, but I would never wish for any QB to have career ending injuries!  That is just plain sad and classless.  If you are a true fan you should want your team to beat the best not just breeze through because the best are retired!  I just can't believe anyone would wish for someone to get so badly hurt that it is career ending from something they love and work hard to achieve being the best.  Maybe your little Eagles should just work harder at being a team instead of a bunch of little super stars trying to play football solo.  Don't they know there is no "I" in the word Team.  #1 PATS FAN in Colorado

Super Bowl Shoutout: Can Gronk be effective?

Ok, I wrote all, but obviously not ALL of them are bragging. It was an oversight on my part. But the only Giant player that I have heard who is NOT bragging is Justin Tuck. And there are still a lot of Giants fans predicting a rout and giving the Patriots no chance.

Redseat is right. The Giant players I named have been bragging. Manningham, Rolle and to a lesser extent, Eli. Obviously not all 53 giants' players have been interviewed.

Like Zigzag, Ruprecht and a few others, I can't help but wonder if BigBangtheory is really our old friend Brian8ball with a new account(which strangely appeared about 5 days ago, shortly after 8ball blew his top for the last time before being banned.)
BigBang argues very similarly to Brian. The one major difference is than Brian usually ranted in all Caps, which bang hasn't done. On the other hand, if they are the same, Banger won't be able to conceal his temper much longer.

Silly FEagles fan. What would rule is if DeShawn Jackson acted like man instead of a little b*tch and if Andy Reid would lose about 300 pounds. That would Rule! Yea, yea, hahahaha. Eagles, 6-10 next year because Reid is too dumb to hire a defensive coordinator.

The ravens not scoring the TD late wasnt luck but great defense
WHAT???? Dude, whatever you are smoking, share with the rest of the group. Not only was that NOT a function of good defense, letting the Ravens march down the field, but that ball was actually considered by many to be a catch. There was some debate as to whether Evans had the ball long enough to be called a TD. A good WR makes that catch, no question. You can bet Nicks, Manningham, Cruz, or Ballard make that catch.

And as far as the NY/SF game, tell me what SF was doing against the Giants D? The point is, that game was going to be decided by who made a play and Jacquian Williams made a great play to strip the ball and cause a fumble that the Giants recovered. And remember, the Giants from that distance would have had almost a 50 yard FG attempt in the slop, mud, and rain. They gained 20 yards very quickly on that SF defense to set up a very short FG.

And dude, Grnok will be lucky to catch 3 passes at all much less 3 TD's. There's no way he's effective with a high ankle sprain. Did you SEE the injury? do you KNOW what a high ankle sprain is? He's got ligament damage not only in the ankle but higher up behind the shin bone. Even if he's all shot up with cortisone, one or two hits on that ankle and he's done.

New England IS the underdog.
Outside of Patriots Nation & Vegas, NO ONE is picking Vegas, NO ONE.
