Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

I can't remember the last time an upcoming meeting between an owner and player drew so much attention but the anticipated gathering between quarterback Peyton Manning and Colts owner Jim Irsay has the NFL, and in some ways all of sports, slightly holding its breath.

One league source said the two might finally have a sit-down this week to talk. That's not definite but it seems likely. One thing that's become clear is the two men don't want another circus. Both sides don't want to meet, I'm told, the week of the combine and thus have Manning news dominate the way it did Super Bowl week.

It remains possible the two men wait until after the combine but the feeling seems to be they want to get the meeting over with sooner than later. It's highly likely they meet in secret and no one finds out until afterwards.

Irsay wrote on his Twitter account Friday, speaking of last week: "Things r quiet this week n weekend, getting ready for NFL Combine, completing coaching staff, analyzing roster. There's no news on Peyton."

My guess -- everyone in football's guess -- is that the two men will basically say their goodbyes. No one, and I mean no one, expects Manning back. Stranger things have happened but it appears almost certain the meeting is the first step in the departure of Manning from the Colts.

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

In another story that eerily mirrors this one . .

It can now be revealed that CBS SPORTS' Mike Freeman may or may not have eggs for breakfast sometime this week.

It isn't certain and we will probably not find out, until someone leaks it afterwards.

The only sure thing is that no one, and we mean no one, expects him to have Count Chocula.

More on this and other pointless stories tomorrow on Eyewitless News!

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

As a season ticket holder and someone who has lived in Indy my entire life, I wish things were diffenent. I don't recall anyone referring to sources. Just read the writing. It's obvious what is about to happen. Is there ANY video of Manning throwing a football recently? Does anyone remember what Peyton said after Eli's win over the 49ers? He even said he may not even be playing next year? The Colts already spent $25m last year with the expectation that he'd be playing in 2011. We can't risk it again in 2012. I wish it were different. I hope (for his sake) he plays again for a few years and returns to the ring of honor in Indy, but I doubt it. Too many changes already in Indy...Irsay and Colts have already moved on. You don't need sources to see that.

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

These stupid stories crack me up. It is Peyton is going to arizona, miami, balitmore, redskins, and every other team in the nfl, but not the colts because"SOURCES HAVE TOLD THESE JACKASS SPORTS WRITERS SOMETHING".  Another words here a hint. They are just writing these stories to get publicity. No one and I mean NO ONE has any idea what is going to happen. They need to stop writing this garbage. Peyton Manning status only over took the whole super bowl media is because that is what they wanted to know. It isn't news. The Colts with peyton have made the playoffs 9 times in a row. That is great in my opinion and he would have played this year I think they would have made it 10. I'm over these media jackass that wanna blow it out of control because their "SOURCE" told them something. So far sources have been crap. so find something else.

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

If Peyton Manning can play he will play in Indianapolis as a Colt. How do I know this? Well......the Colts have a new head coach that was a defensive guy and they have yet to hire an offensive coordinator.
What are you talking about? As much I wish this to be true, it is way off. Bruce Arians is the new OC. Peyton still has 3-4 years left in him. He WILL play in 2012.

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

I can't see Indie paying him that much and allso at a risk he can't play/ it will cripple their cap and they are obviously in rebuild mode.

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

Bruce Arians (formerly from Pittsburgh) IS the new offensive coordinator.  That was effective for quite some time now.

If Peyton Manning can play he will play in Indianapolis as a Colt.  How do I know this?  Well......the Colts have a new head coach that was a defensive guy and they have yet to hire an offensive coordinator.  Sounds strange doesnt it that a team with Peyton Manning who calls his own plays doesnt have a new offensive coordinator hired yet but they are going to be parting ways with him?  I think if Manning cannot play the Colts ask him to be the offensive coordinator for Andrew Luck.

I just dont see any credible evidence that Manning will not be in Indianaplis in some form this season and next and the one after.  But by the Colts not having an offensive coordinator (at least if they do I am not aware of it) that shows they want Manning to be the guy at the helm next year.  Had they gone out and got an offensive minded head coach or offensive coordinator I would have said yes Manning is done in Indy.  BUT THATS NOT THE CASE!

So where does everyone get this opinion that Manning is done as a Colt I would really like to know.

Manning and Irsay to meet this week?

Lets get this over so the speculation can stop. Please!
Amen to that. I have a been a Colts fan for years. I have never realized how much of a jagoff Irsay was until this year. He used to be a drunk that stayed out of the way and signed the checks. Then Twitter came along and he has turned into Jerry Jones midwest. I hope Peyton end up with a decent team and dominates next year. I will support the Colts but I really hope Peyton wins another SB before he retires. I think management and passive coaching is what has held him back from more than 1 (and a loss in the SB).
