Peyton Manning's giant shadow hasn't left Indy

INDIANAPOLIS -- Peyton Manning remains everywhere. The coach of the Colts at a press conference here was asked about him. The Arizona Cardinals wouldn't rule out Manning coming to their team. Jets coach Rex Ryan wouldn't rule out Manning coming to his team. That should be Manning's nickname: Won't Rule Out.

Manning is associated with seemingly every team that needs a quarterback or has a quarterback that stinks. In Florida, fans are putting up billboards in a desperate attempt to lure him there.

So as Manning overshadowed the Super Bowl he does the same at the combine. He remains the biggest topic here. At the Super Bowl, he dwarfed Tom Brady and his brother Eli. Now, he minimizes Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin.

The Colts coach and general manager both said they had no new news on Manning and neither had seen him throw. He remains the hottest topic in football despite there being nothing original to report.

Manning and Irsay are talking but there isn't any clear indication a resolution is near. This could go down to the final day. The question is why? Everyone, including Manning and Jim Irsay, knows this relationship is over.

So everyone waits and while everyone does Manning remains the biggest story in football...still.

To me, this is all the story there is. If Manning was fine, the above statement would not be true. Plain and simple. Because it is true however, I simply don't see how Manning is ready to go. With all that is up in the air right now, he would of showed them already. That is the only thing that makes sense to me.  --drkato

Doc, NFL rules forbid Colts coaches from observing Manning up close and personal for now.

No bonus for Manning. I'm guessing the colts are going to cut him the day before. Manning wants to keep Isray guessing.  Since they are drafting Luck, they might as well not make a 28mil bet that Manning can play for another organization next season. What's the trade value for Manning? 2nd, 3rd round pick?

Hey drkato. I believe the reason the new Colts GM and Coach have no news on Manning, nor have they seen him throw-because he's not in INDY. He was travelling after the SB into NC and eventually hit New Orleans (his home town). Probably staying there until the Combine is finished. Apparently he is progressing well, but the rehab takes time. Peyton is not real fond of all this media hype and speculation. He's the only one that knows how he feels. Period.

The only shadow at the combine is that created by the media. You continue to bring up the subject of Peyton Manning, he doesn't. From what I understand he's on vacation at home in New Orleans (was there during Mardi Gras). He is entitled to vacation. That's were most NFL players are right now-on vacation, in their home cities or elsewhere. Peyton is probably avoiding being in Indy, on purpose. Quit blaming him for creating yet more speculation on what he's doing, where he's going. It's a media frenzy, just trying to break the story first. IF he's leaving the Colts I hope he does go to Miami. Since Marino retired, they've never had a superstar QB to get them on top. Peyton would be a great addition, even if only for a couple of years. Let Andrew Luck take over right away-he will need plenty of time to help rebuild the Colts. Another thing-Reggie Wayne is also exploring free agency. Perhaps he should tag along with Peyton to Miami. Wow-what a nice combo that would be.

I hope Payton gets the 28 million an retires in couple of years and lets Luck transition into the slot. Not likely to happen the way Indy cleared house this off season. If he choose a team, I hope it is Washinton, playing against his brother 2 times a year would be fun.  I loved watching payton play and hope he end up where he can finish out his career with a contender. He would become a hero overnight to the proud but disappointed skins fans. He would own that town if he got to the playoffs.

Peyton..... ESPN just sent Jaws packing from the MNF booth so he can "focus on his strength, which is breaking down film." Yeah.... and I've got a bridge I wanna sell you. Peyton, ESPN is willing to pay you millions to take your noodle arm to the broadcast booth if you're willing to sit by Gruden every week. The only injuries you will suffer up there are to your eardrums from listening to Chucky talk incessantly.

Peyton Manning's giant shadow hasn't left Indy

Peyton Manning did not dwarf Tom Brady anymore than Tim Tebow did.  It is the idiotic media that covers what they want to cover.  If you asked the average fan they would have rather heard about Brady and Eli rather than Peyton.  But the media tries to create a feud between Manning and Irsay that simply is not there.  They are trying to see if his arm is responding to the recovery and simply no one knows at this time.  The press cannot accept that no one knows and tries to speculate and then create a soap opera that no one is participating in except for the press and the brainwashed fans that believe the press.  And then there are stories like this where the press outright states that Manning's days in Indy are over.  What a moronic statement.  Are you going to print a retraction when Peyton signs with the Colts or retires?  The press has concluded something so it is true, give me a break.  Freeman you suck.
