Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Peyton Manning insists he's made no decision on his possible NFL destination. Sure, Peyton. Sure.

No one in the league believes that. They think Manning has a short list but doesn't want to publicly admit it so he can maximize the inevitable bidding war.

One team official that contacted Manning's agent, Tom Condon, says he got the definite impression that Manning indeed has already decided where he wants to go, or, at least, the handful of teams truly in the mix. The official, who did not want to be identified, believes that Miami, Washington and Denver are the front-runners. One report states Manning has already informed the Redskins he doesn't want to play for them.

But the official conceded the front-runner will be the team that, in the end, offers the most guaranteed money.

The official believes that contrary to some reports, Manning is indeed open to playing in the NFC, even in the NFC East where his brother Eli, is obviously king of the division.

It's still early in the process but one thing is clear: the Manning derby is fully under way and, despite his public protestations, Manning likely already has a good idea of where he wants to go.

Don't be Brett Favre, hanging on to a dream for another Super Bowl ring that likely will never come.
If by be a Bret Favre you mean dont get a bounty put on your head, and take the eventual SB champs to OT, in their house,  and lose by a phantom PI flag even after turning the ball over 5 times?  Then yes, dont pull a Bret Favre

Yep, gotcha Matt.  I was responding to RedskinScott as well.  Don't know why it didn't reflect that in the post.

Doubtful that it has anything to do with the most guaranteed money.  What matters to Manning is that he has a chance to win and that he won't get hurt playing for a horrible team.  People have been mentioning SF, he's not going there, the 9ers aren't giving up on Alex Smith.  People have been mentioning the Jets, I doubt they are willing to give up on Mark Sanchez.  Washington doesn't have a good track record based on the money they spend.  I see it coming down to Miami or Arizona and that's just a guess.  But after reading all the "experts'" opinions that get paid to do this....  I think my guesses are as good as theirs.

He needs to retire. Don't be Brett Favre, hanging on to a dream for another Super Bowl ring that likely will never come. Go out on top.

the NFC West (Seattle or Arizona) would give him the easiest and quickest path to the playoffs.

I think you are underestimating how good the Niners are.

My darkhorse pick is your Chiefs. Manning, Bowe, Wayne, Breston, Charles, that o-line, & the up and coming defense

The Chiefs have one of the worst OL in the NFL.  They lost 2 QB's to injurry last year and the year before.  In fact, when was the last time the Chiefs had a QB last the entire season?  It's been a while.

He is coming to Seattle. We got the defense, the running game and Rice, Baldwin, Miller, Tate, Lockette and Big Mike Williams will shine.

I think he'll end up in Miami. I've thought this for a few months now. However, Does he want to play against Tom Brady twice a year? Potentially 3 times a year with playoffs? Just a thought. Moving to the AFC West (Denver or Kansas City) or the NFC West (Seattle or Arizona) would give him the easiest and quickest path to the playoffs.
