Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Peyton Manning insists he's made no decision on his possible NFL destination. Sure, Peyton. Sure.

No one in the league believes that. They think Manning has a short list but doesn't want to publicly admit it so he can maximize the inevitable bidding war.

One team official that contacted Manning's agent, Tom Condon, says he got the definite impression that Manning indeed has already decided where he wants to go, or, at least, the handful of teams truly in the mix. The official, who did not want to be identified, believes that Miami, Washington and Denver are the front-runners. One report states Manning has already informed the Redskins he doesn't want to play for them.

But the official conceded the front-runner will be the team that, in the end, offers the most guaranteed money.

The official believes that contrary to some reports, Manning is indeed open to playing in the NFC, even in the NFC East where his brother Eli, is obviously king of the division.

It's still early in the process but one thing is clear: the Manning derby is fully under way and, despite his public protestations, Manning likely already has a good idea of where he wants to go.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Anybody saying, "He's going to (fill in the blank)" Sounds like an idiot. I doubt even he knows where he's going yet.

If he chooses your, "He's going here", you'll act like you're a genius. If he goes somewhere else, you'll melt into the background.

Just like nobody is impressed with your skills beating Vegas odds....nobody is impressed with your "lock" on where Peyton will end up.

The only way Manning goes to Washington over Miami is if there is a drastic difference in money and Miami will not be out bid by that much. Manning's preference will be to stay in the AFC and out of the NFC East so that he and Eli aren't competing against each other.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

It's going to be the Dolphins.  The Mannings already have a home in Miami Beach, in fact he was spotted departing a private plane in Opa Locka yesterday.

The Fish have around $15 million in cap space so far, and likely more with some restrucuring of some existing contracts.  Room could be made for Manning, Wayne (former UM player) and his friend Jeff Saturday.

Saturday would allow current center, Pouncy to move to guard, where he does have experience, They already have an All-Pro LT to watch Peyton's blind side,  Acquiring Wayne would take some heat off Brandon Marshall.  They have Bush and Thomas in the backfield along with a Ex-CFLer (name escapes me at the moment) as a blocking FB.  Did I mention Miami has a new offensive minded HC?

The defense is solid and they have an early picks in the coming draft (a top TE or more defensive help?).  Add all the previously mentioned personnel moves to a warm climate, a natural grass field, and no state income tax.  Also, owner Ross badly wants to boost ticket sales and re-claim the title of South Florida's #1 team away from the Heat and also deflect attention from a now improved Marlins and their flashy new stadium.

This is a win-win for the Dolphins and for Peyton.  I see no other NFL team that has a more desirable situation for landing Peyton Manning.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Is speculation & hyperbole all that's needed to be a "journalist" for CBS? Here's some speculation for you, Freeman. I think you know your job's at risk due to your poor journalistic skills and you just throwing anything you can against the wall to see if it will stick. This article is complete trash. Zero information, zero entertainment.....wait, I'm entertaining myself right now.

It's gonna be AFC for sure. Peyton maybe open to the NFC (doubt it), but the rest of the Mannings aren't. Arizona might be the only exception due to Fitzgerald. The way I see it Miami's a huge leader. Denver is an interesting choice, but unless they're willing to use Tebow in a Vick-first-year-with-the-Eagles capacity, they're just kicking tires. My darkhorse pick is your Chiefs. Manning, Bowe, Wayne, Breston, Charles, that o-line, & the up and coming defense....great choice.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

This is an open and shut case.  Think about it...only the DOLPHINS can add all of these THIRTEEN plusses all together in one place:

1) No real incumbent
2) Very good defense
3) Great offensive line and the best Left Tackle in football
4) Running game
5) Skill players: Reggie Bush (Manning's type of QB) and Marshall.
6) Cap space to bring in Peyton's buddies, like Reggie Wayne, who has already said he would love to follow Peyton wherever he goes.
7) Great weather
8) Not a media crazed city - not as laid back as Indy, but then, very few cities are.
9) He has a condo in Miami, where apparently he stays these days! (and who wouldn't?)
10) Dan Marino is Peyton's 2nd favorite QB of all-time. First, of course, being his Dad. I'm sure there would be a draw to play where Marino played and finish what Marino started. Plus...brothers in aqua blue. Pretty cool.
11)  They would have no issues allowing him to reprise his role as the de-facto Offensive Coordinator.
12)  AFC - No playing his brother in the playoffs unless its the MANNING BOWL!
13)  EAST COAST - You know Archie and the family don't want to have to go Cross Country, twice per week (there and back), just to see Peyton play football.

And, #14, I'd look good in Aqua Blue and Orange.  OK, that's not a really good reason, but it is something no other team can offer...and it has 13 excellent reasons ahead of it.

The real #14?  Ross and the Dolphins will pay Peyton just about whatever he wants!

No other team can roll up all of these plusses, combined, all in one place.  On paper, it has to be the Dolphins.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Surprised Arizona is not on the list.

Didn't Arizona just spent a ton of money on a QB last year?
