Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Peyton Manning insists he's made no decision on his possible NFL destination. Sure, Peyton. Sure.

No one in the league believes that. They think Manning has a short list but doesn't want to publicly admit it so he can maximize the inevitable bidding war.

One team official that contacted Manning's agent, Tom Condon, says he got the definite impression that Manning indeed has already decided where he wants to go, or, at least, the handful of teams truly in the mix. The official, who did not want to be identified, believes that Miami, Washington and Denver are the front-runners. One report states Manning has already informed the Redskins he doesn't want to play for them.

But the official conceded the front-runner will be the team that, in the end, offers the most guaranteed money.

The official believes that contrary to some reports, Manning is indeed open to playing in the NFC, even in the NFC East where his brother Eli, is obviously king of the division.

It's still early in the process but one thing is clear: the Manning derby is fully under way and, despite his public protestations, Manning likely already has a good idea of where he wants to go.

It will be Miami or Washington, no others and more likely Miami. Playing against kid brother is fun for the family, Miami is a fun place to play in the sunshine!

PEYTON MANNING TO THE DENVER BRONCOS.  He will be treated like a king, and he has the O-Line, and we have the cap space to bring in Wayne, and even Jeff Saturday to make him feel comfortable.  The Defense showed up last year, and we have Del Rio whipping the defense in shape.  Denver has also already said that they would sculpt the offense to whatever Peyton wants it to be, and let him be in command of calling his own plays and everything.  His best situation would be in Denver.

redskinscott,

So Manning has "cervical issues".  I never heard anyone ever call Payton Manning a girl before, because that is what he would need to be to have a cervix with "issues".  As near as I understand it, he has had several Neck surgeries.  I do agree with you however that the Redskins are a project that Manning does not want to deal with, plus he would have to compete against little 'bro.

I like the sound of that.  Manning would be great in Denver.

I hope Peyton doesn't go play for Denver. There are no weapons there for him to use (ok, not none, but minimal), and he would have to play for Shanahan. How would ol' Mike be able to let the QB control the game? He hasn't allowed a QB to have an indepedent thought since Elway had pads on.

After reading this comment, I'm not sure you actually know a single thing about the NFL.

What a brilliant, in depth article. How would we have known that Peyton had thought about his future destination without Mr. Freemans analysis? I can sleep better now knowing this.

I said right away that the Broncos would be a good fit and would make a good excuse to get Tebow out of there. Take the Colts horseshoes and put them on the Bronco.
