Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Peyton Manning insists he's made no decision on his possible NFL destination. Sure, Peyton. Sure.

No one in the league believes that. They think Manning has a short list but doesn't want to publicly admit it so he can maximize the inevitable bidding war.

One team official that contacted Manning's agent, Tom Condon, says he got the definite impression that Manning indeed has already decided where he wants to go, or, at least, the handful of teams truly in the mix. The official, who did not want to be identified, believes that Miami, Washington and Denver are the front-runners. One report states Manning has already informed the Redskins he doesn't want to play for them.

But the official conceded the front-runner will be the team that, in the end, offers the most guaranteed money.

The official believes that contrary to some reports, Manning is indeed open to playing in the NFC, even in the NFC East where his brother Eli, is obviously king of the division.

It's still early in the process but one thing is clear: the Manning derby is fully under way and, despite his public protestations, Manning likely already has a good idea of where he wants to go.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

1) KC has the largest cap space in the AFC to sign him AND Wayne AND other linemen etc.

Not true.  Denver has more cap space than KC.  Don't forget, KC just franchised Bowe, so there is $10 million of your cap space already spent.

2) Manning prefers a small town feel/market

Is that why he spent his entire career in Indianapolis and has a condo in Miami?

3) KC has a very good defense, and a solid running game with Charles coming back

KC's defense is average.  And Charles is coming off an ACL injury.  Average of 2 years to recover if they ever do.

4) The AFC West is wide open for Manning to come in and win the division

The reining AFC West Champion is Denver.  We're saying the same thing in Denver.

5) We've reportedly already made him an offer....

Simply a rumor.  Peter King says that's not the case.  Think about it.  You know how Pioli works.  No way in hell he is the first offer.  That's like giving the rest of the teams exactly what they need to beat him.  duh.

Orton will hang himself if Peyton signs in Kansas City.  Poor guy just cannot catch a break

First of all Orton doesn't play for Kansas City.  He's a free agent.  Second of all, Orton has had every break in the world.  For 7 years the Bears and the Broncos gave him the keys to the franchise and he failed.

Don't feel sorry for Orton.  He's had MORE than his fair share of a chance and he just isn't any good.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Everyone laughs at me.... but don't count out Dallas. Jones wants a Championship and Romo's not the guy.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

I'm a Fins fan, and I think that keeping our draft picks and signing Manning for 2-3 years is a better play than trading an entire draft for RG 3.  The only issue is what Manning thinks he's worth.  A guy his age and condition cannot be a top-paid QB in this league, or anywhere close to it.  If he wants $20 mil a year, he should look to the Skins.  They love to waste money.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

It amazes me at just how narrow minded these sports writers are. What would be impressive is to find someone who didn't alway worry about catering to big markets and instead reported the actual facts, AND do some actual analysis. I know I'm biased, BUT I also see the whole picture here.

Manning is perfect for 1 place... Doesn't mean KC will get him, but look at the facts.

1) KC has the largest cap space in the AFC to sign him AND Wayne AND other linemen etc.
2) Manning prefers a small town feel/market
3) KC has a very good defense, and a solid running game with Charles coming back.
4) The AFC West is wide open for Manning to come in and win the division
5) We've reportedly already made him an offer....

Other teams have little cap space to sign Peyton, much less the others he'd need to bring with or sign.
Other teams have quarterbacks that are with the same agency/agent
Other teams have tough divisions
Other teams are in the NFC

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

And with that owner, that's a distinct possibility...

Orton will hang himself if Peyton signs in Kansas City.  Poor guy just cannot catch a break.  Nobody likes him for some reason, and he is a pretty good passer.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Redskin excuse maker, every team has exactly the same scenarios every week,  if we did this.... if we did that.... its called losers lament. The skins suck and Peyton would only go there if that owner gave him twice as much as the rest of the offers.

Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

I hope the Colts let him take his helmet with him. With a big square head like that it would be difficult to find aonther one to fit.
