Has Manning already narrowed his choices?

Peyton Manning insists he's made no decision on his possible NFL destination. Sure, Peyton. Sure.

No one in the league believes that. They think Manning has a short list but doesn't want to publicly admit it so he can maximize the inevitable bidding war.

One team official that contacted Manning's agent, Tom Condon, says he got the definite impression that Manning indeed has already decided where he wants to go, or, at least, the handful of teams truly in the mix. The official, who did not want to be identified, believes that Miami, Washington and Denver are the front-runners. One report states Manning has already informed the Redskins he doesn't want to play for them.

But the official conceded the front-runner will be the team that, in the end, offers the most guaranteed money.

The official believes that contrary to some reports, Manning is indeed open to playing in the NFC, even in the NFC East where his brother Eli, is obviously king of the division.

It's still early in the process but one thing is clear: the Manning derby is fully under way and, despite his public protestations, Manning likely already has a good idea of where he wants to go.

Denver is the worst spot for him to go. demarius thomas please not even a top 50 WR, McGahee really, he was agood RB at one time, and had a very good season but i doubt u see that again from him.
jets have no chance, i dont even need to elaborate on that.
redskins peytons not playing in same division as eli. so i agree with u on that. and seattle as well
arizona isnt going to happen either they only have 3.1 million in salary cap, so if they can make that work i would be shocked.

i think the only 2 real possibilities and thats the chiefs or the dolphins.

dolphins are the front runners in my eyes and where i would like him to go, me being a dolphins fan.
they have weapons, marshal, bush, bess, hartline, and that kid clay was looking pretty good later in the season, fasano is a legit TE, defense can play pretty good can use some improvement in the secondary, and the o-line, but even if they went with what they have plus peyton i think they would be really competitive. lets not forget u get manning you probably get reggie wayne.

the chiefs have some talent as well, if jamal charles can bounce back, bowe is a beast, breaston respectable, defense is pretty good, but to much is all about if's IN KC. there only advantage is they have more salary cap space then the dolphins.

lets face it peyton wants to win, and play to win another super bowl... i think miami gives him a good shot at that with all the talent they have on both sides of the ball, and ross's willingness to spend. I might just be an optimistic dolphins fan , but i think adding peyton makes them a 12-13 win team.

Denver has better weather than anywhere in the fall.  60 degrees and sunny right through November when it finally drops into the 50s.  That's football weather right there.
Yeah, that 15 inches of average snowfall the last 5 Novembers is really great "football weather".  Who cares how fast the snow melts if the snow melt within a week when it's snowing Saturday and Sunday?

Weather will not be an issue if Peyton decides on Denver.
You have absolutely no way of knowing that.  It's reasonable that a player wouldn't want to play in conditions that hurt is game.
But the rest of you keep thinking the weather sucks here.  It's crowded enough, thank you very much.
Then you won't mind Manning not adding to the crowding.

March 9th Chiefs Insider: Peyton Manning Update

Peyton Manning - Per our spies the Chiefs made an official offer to Peyton Mannings' Camp.  The offer reportedly is a $30M plus guarantee with a total value over $50M.  Per our source, the 2012 camp hit for the Chiefs in this deal could be as high as $20M.  If that's the case, per our source, the Chiefs are the only team in the Manning Derby that has the cap space to get this deal done.

Also told that the Chiefs have been the front runner for Manning for over a month.  But that doesn't mean Miami will come in over the top to sign Manning.  But are they really players in this deal?  If they exceed KC's offer then Manning has to decide to take the money in Miami or a team in KC who plays in a weak division that will become an AFC favorite for a Super Bowl.

Stay tuned I'm told that Manning could choose a team by Monday afternoon.  One day ahead of Free Agency!

manning wasnt let go early 3/8 was when the 28 mil. bonus was due, and the dolphins cut henne over a week ago, so what your saying makes no sense. all that being said henne was cut because he sucks, he's not even a good back up, and with matt moore still on the roster and assuming the dolphins sign peyton, they may have the best back up qb.

Think about it. Its Peyton Manning. He knew all along what his options options were long before the super bowl. He's going to Miami. Is he healthy is the big question however. Mr. Ross is either going to be a genius or the biggest goat since Dan Snyder. Go Phins !

What I'd really like to know is that when the dust settles on this debate will Peyton be healthy enough to make a difference wherever he lands. As a fan of Manning's I'd like to see him succeed, but that isn't a sure thing. A QB's presence in the pockets begins with his mobility, but with Peyton it is not mobility like you would assume with someone like an Aaron Rodgers or a Micheal Vick, rather it is his ability to move his head when making his reads. Peyton isn't considered a mobile QB in the sense of escapability, but where he excells is his ability to make reads in the pocket, and putting the ball where it needs to go based on defensive alignment and pressure. His ability to make reads will be impacted if he is unable to have fluid mobility in his neck, and through his throwing motion. The throwing that Peyton has been doing has been in a controlled, unpressured excercise, we won't know how these multiple surgeries have impacted him until we see him in live action where he'll have to put stress on his repaired vertebre and the soft tissues, ligaments, and tendons in that area.

I don't see Stephen Ross getting out bid for Peyton. He really wants to bring an exciting team that wins to South Beach. Miami is all about glitz, glamour and winning and Peyton may make that all happen. I also would think that Dan Marino is working overtime as an emissary. Peyton has always admired Dan and there is no worry about following in Dans footsteps because it has been close to a decade since 13 suited up. I hope it is true because being a season ticket holder for the better part of twenty years has been frustrating. The losses are tough but the there is no real excitement at the games. In fact the best moment over the last five years has been Camillrio sprinting to the end zone to beat the ravens in it during the 1-15 season. Ross knows without a splash it is just a matter of time before weekly home game blackoUts will be the norm. Time to spend some money to fill the seats

as i said earlier the jets are out. peyton wont play for someone he does not respect, and he does not respect ryan. sorry freeman wrong again the winner does not have to be the highest guarenteed money.its the team he feels will work as hard to win as he does. as ive said before if your not gonna run routes with him b4 the ost's your not gettin the ball during the season. zona, denver, miami, and tenn is my darkhorse
