Live from Clemens hearing

The nanny just punched Roger Clemens in the gut.

The chairman of the committee just destroyed Clemens by revealing that the one-time Clemens nanny says Clemens was indeed at the much disputed Jose Canseco party. This is significant because Brian McNamee claims at this party there was a discussion about performance-enhancing drugs. Clemens has long denied he was at the party.

So again, a person with nothing to prove, contradicts Clemens.

The committee claims that Clemens contacted the nanny recently some seven years after their last contact.

The moment was the most explosive of the day thus far. The lawyers for Clemens vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Clemens claims he was speaking to the nanny as a way to help the committee. Ooookaayyyy, Roger.

I agree, Pettitte and the nanny have nothing to gain by implicating Clemens.  Clemens just can't admit  that he cheated, like Barry Bonds, and will continue to lie to keep his legacy as a baseball player.

This is just a bad soap opera. I hope Bud Selig can sleep at night. One of the best statements made was about why baseball administration wasnt asked any questions in the mitchell report and they are obviously unable to clean their own house.

Bud Selig will go down as one of the worst arguably the worst commish in MLB history. Yes he made the game tons of money but at what cost. Next congressional hearing should start with Bud, Fehr then Cashman asking questions about what they knew. Now bring in the strength coaches , mgs, coaches etc and the picture will be complete. Baseball is the dirtiest game out there and it all happened because of greed. Started with the owners then the players wwanted to cash in but EVERYONE knew!

Since I am not watching the live questioning ...

Is this as much of a joke as it seems ... just seems like almost the Iraq war debate as the way party lines are being drawn?

BTW ... It is SOP for a lawyer to question someone before releasing there info to others.

Party happened 10 years ago so memory gets foggy. There are other recollections in depos that say Clemens wasn't at the party, so again its just more conflicting information- but not a smoking gun.

Actually a pretty interesting line of questioning.

Mr. Waxman declared that he had repeatedly asked about the nanny's information.  Clemen's lawyers didn't respond to the request until late Monday.  The committee then questioned that nanny.  Bottom line is - Clemens was at Canseco and so were the nanny and the kids.  A side-twist to the story was that she spoke to Clemens at Clemen's house per Roger's request.  On SUNDAY.  The day before they released her name and info to the committee.

Clemens and the lawyers were pretty pissed about this line of questioning.

Was what the Nanny said under oath? Or is this just another person speaking on behalf of the Nanny? If no one has spoken to the Nanny directly, then it is just hear say and if this was a court trial would have been instantaneously thrown out.

This is excruciatingly slow reporting!

Mike, there are many of us stuck at work and unable to watch the hearings. Will you PLEASE give us more detail?
