Tom Brady, Joe Montana, John Elway, Peyton Manning, John Unitas, Otto Graham (the most underrated thrower perhaps ever), Dan Marino, Steve Young, Warren Moon, Roger Staubach and Terry Bradshaw.

All of them had better careers than Favre.

Favre's greatest asset was his endurance but his greatest weakness was his inaccuracy. He tossed more interceptions than any quarterback ever and that's not a good thing for an NFL thrower.

Favre has been called a "gunslinger" a term that always amused me. When did that become code for error prone?

All athletes should take notice of how Favre handled the media and fans. He treated both well and the media overlooked his glaring weaknesses as a quarterback because they liked him personally. He was rarely taken to task for throwing so many key interceptions in so many big spots.

A non-partisan eye looks at Favre's career and sees it for what it was: he achieved Hall of Fame status and was a perfect fit in one of the top football towns in America but he never reached the top tier status of a Brady or Marino.
