Brett Favre...Hall of Famer but barely top 10

These are the quarterbacks I would take over Brett Favre, who I thought would only retire after they pried the football from his cold, dead hands:

Tom Brady, Joe Montana, John Elway, Peyton Manning, John Unitas, Otto Graham (the most underrated thrower perhaps ever), Dan Marino, Steve Young, Warren Moon, Roger Staubach and Terry Bradshaw.

All of them had better careers than Favre.

Favre's greatest asset was his endurance but his greatest weakness was his inaccuracy. He tossed more interceptions than any quarterback ever and that's not a good thing for an NFL thrower.

Favre has been called a "gunslinger" a term that always amused me. When did that become code for error prone?

All athletes should take notice of how Favre handled the media and fans. He treated both well and the media overlooked his glaring weaknesses as a quarterback because they liked him personally. He was rarely taken to task for throwing so many key interceptions in so many big spots.

A non-partisan eye looks at Favre's career and sees it for what it was: he achieved Hall of Fame status and was a perfect fit in one of the top football towns in America but he never reached the top tier status of a Brady or Marino.

Don't bother. Zamboni is not capable of making rational posts because he incorrectly spells rational. He only makes ridiculous, ill-informed declarations.

There's half of your list that had a higher interception rate than Favre. Might want to check your stats completely before you use them, and not use stats that are completely biased to prove your argument. Don't bother. Mike is incapable of making a rationale point in this debate. He only replies to off-topic remarks.

Your argument about Brett Favre throwing the most interceptions in NFL history is laughable. It is exactly like saying Cy Young was not a top-tier MLB pitcher because he has the most losses in history, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar not being a great NBA player because he has the most shots missed in his career.

To get an accurate judgement of throwing interceptions should be the percent of attempts thrown that became interceptions. Because Favre threw so many more attempts than many of the other QBs on your list, it evens the playing field.

Terry Bradshaw 5.4%
Otto Graham 5.1%
Johnny Unitas 4.9%
Roger Staubach 3.7%
Warren Moon 3.4%
Brett Favre 3.3%

Favre threw 8758 pass attempts in his career with 288 interceptions. If Bradshaw had thrown that many attempts, he would have had about 475 interceptions!

There's half of your list that had a higher interception rate than Favre. Might want to check your stats completely before you use them, and not use stats that are completely biased to prove your argument.

Zamboni: Way to over-simplify and take gutless, anonymous potshots. Keep up the good posts.

You are calling someone an idiot while spelling "you're" wrong.Mike - way to ignore the superfluous issues and discuss the merits of your case. Keep up the good work.

If you're going to say Brett Favre Hall Of Famer but barely top 10 then you might as well say Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Warren Moon barely top 10. Look at the receivers those quarterbacks had vs the receivers Brett Favre had. If you look at Emmit Smith and compare him to Barry Sanders. Look at the linemen and other players that Emmit Smith had vs Barry Sanders. You knew Barry Sanders was the team and he was going to get the ball. The same can be said about Brett Favre. Brett Favre is the Green Bay Packers and no doubt one of the best all times. To bad he didn't have all the talent around him to show what he could have really done.
