Tiger on Thursday: TV or not TV?

Posted on: March 31, 2010 8:41 am

Two of the key questions relating to next week's Masters involve how club officials will handle the pairings dilemma and when Tiger Woods will hit his opening Augusta National shot.

That is, which unlucky saps will be paired with Woods in the first two rounds, putting them in the eye of the storm as he concludes a 144-day layoff after enduring one of the biggest public-relations disasters in sports history, and how much will be seen on TV?

Just for the record, below is the complete list of his playing partners at Augusta since he turned pro, courtesy of the Associated Press. Also note the tee times, which are interesting in that the ESPN broadcast window on Thursday is from 4-7:30 p.m. Based on past history, it seems fair to say that in a best-case scenario, only his back nine will be televised live. The latest he has teed off is 1:52 p.m.

If he tees off in the morning wave, before noon, it stands to reason that nary a shot will be seen live on the network since he'll likely be finished by 4 p.m.

2009 _ 1:52 p.m.    Stewart Cink, Jeev Milkha Singh
2008 _ 10:45 a.m.  Angel Cabrera, Stuart Appleby
2007 _ 1:52 p.m.    Paul Casey, Aaron Baddeley
2006 _ 10:23 a.m.  a-Edoardo Molinari, Robert Allenby
2005 _ 1:33 p.m.    Darren Clarke, Carlos Franco
2004 _ 1:30 p.m.    a-Casey Wittenberg, Thomas Bjorn
2003 _ 10:44 a.m.  a-Ricky Barnes, Angel Cabrera
2002 _ 10:53 a.m.  a-Bubba Dickerson, Toshi Izawa
2001 _ 12:57 p.m.  a-Mikko Ilonen, Mike Weir
2000 _ 10:58 a.m.  a-Aaron Baddeley, Stewart Cink
1999 _ 10:38 a.m.  a-Sergio Garcia, Tim Herron
1998 _ 1:30 p.m.    a-Matt Kuchar
1997 _ 1:44 p.m.    Nick Faldo

Tiger on Thursday: TV or not TV?

lol redwings you're the one getting bent out of shape. Tiger cheated ..wow  58 percent of married americans do, not saying its right just a fact. JFK cheated, bill clinton cheated, if you named them all it would be a far longer list, my point is that there are a lot more serious problems than infedelity. Like child abuse, spousal abuse, drugs, alcohol, murder....he made a mistake, I'll still enjoy watching him play golf, would i use him as a role model of course not, but then again if you need a role model for your own children your not doing something right to begin with, role models should be you and you alone to your own kids...not any athlete no matter how good they appear to be. This will be the second golf tournament ive watched since woods left..and frankly im looking forward to seeing it.

Tiger on Thursday: TV or not TV?

This is too funny because after reading that so called insult, I can tell not guess, that you are some depressed individual who can't even satisify a date with rosie palm.

Don't need to satisfy a date... happily married man that takes care of his family.  Unlike Tiger and half of you clowns on these boards.

But facts are facts and unfortunately your post have proved one word that is associated with you.  I'll copy and paste it for ya....Idiot.
Sure. I'm an idiot because I don't support a guy that screws everything that moves world wide while his wife is tending to his kids at home.  Gotcha !!!

.  As for smarts...well I'm not even going there because it's not fair for you, but dude the hate messages you present makes you completely blind to society.
Yep.  I hate people that use their power to hurt their own family.. their blood.  I hate people that only think of themselves and wake up every single day like Tiger did with only one thing in mind.  That thing is "how do I get away with this for as long as possible".....  I hate people that are bad role models to their own kids yet happily collect endorsement money in the hundreds of millions where kids see their faces every single day.....   and sir, I will continue to hate those people .....

You know what? I truly am done with this topic and this thread because it's unreal how people just dismiss what Tiger did as cheating or a mistake when in reality it was so much more then that.   I have a couple of friends that cheated and one is still married but the difference there is they cheated,, one time, one night stand.  Bad??  Sure it is.  But they owned up to it and realized it was wrong.  They didn't wake up every day making plans on how to spend every waking minute they can with a different chick.... and neither one had kids so that changes things as well...

If I'm going to be crusified for believing in family, then that's ok with me.  It's ok with me because regardless of the crap you posted about my kids I am a respected husband and father...  I have a great relationship with my wife and kids and will always have that.  I have nothing to be ashamed of... that's for sure.

Now you can go on with your rant...... continue.....

Tiger on Thursday: TV or not TV?

Reminds me of one of Howard Cosell's gems: "Reflecting back nostalgically into the past..."

Tiger on Thursday: TV or not TV?

I will be glad when Tiger gets back - perhaps for a different reason than most.  I am simply sick and tired of hearing about him.  There has been the controversy of who the "greatest player ever" will be, and it seems as most people leaned toward Tiger.  I didn't before, and most certainly don't now.  Tiger Woods disgraced himself and hurt his family badly.  There is another hurt that I believe goes far for all the rest of us who love golf.  Tiger Woods hurt golf.  Golf has stood alone for all this time as the one sport above all with integrity and honor.  Golfers have prided themselves on that - calling penalties upon themselves, etc.  Sure I know there have been incidents in the past where a golfer has been caught cheating.  But there was a difference to me.  Tiger Woods finally showed himself for what he is.  His actions speak volumes for the fact that not only did he view himself as far superior to every other golfer but evidently felt the same way about the rest of his life.  He wanted the best of every world - fame, fortune, privacy.  He wanted all of us to respect that.  We did for a long time.  Not again.

Rewings you're such a tool. It's people like you who make normal people sick. You're no better than the hypocritcal church extremist, where in everyone should live life by your model. Who cares if you don't watch. Is cheating on your wife grounds for you not to be able to go to work? no. He only owes one person and thats his wife. There is adultry all over this country from the president down to your average joe. He didn't hurt you or your family. he doesn't owe you or your family any explanation. Did he make a mistake yes, but who are you to judge. People like you make me sick, always worried about what someone else is doing, your probably that nosey ass neighbor that thinks hes got a say in everyones life. Its funny because people who do that in my neighborhood find out quickly to mind thier business, one advantage of being in law enforcement. Raise your kids and shut up.  oh and since you wanna talk about Tiigers impact on the tour its plain to see, the rating for any tournaments are much much higher than when he doesn't play even his peers want him back for that reason, and do us all a favor and don't watch, take your kids to a redwings game and let them throw dead octopus onto the ice.

You, my friend, are worthless!

I hope your kids don't look up to Tiger but I also hope they don't look up to you.  You are a hate-filled man with issues.  Tiger did nothing to you and I.  Did he mistreat his wife and family...absolutely.  Did he hurt you in any way...hell no.

Grow up and teach your own kids something different than the hate you are currently spewing.

Man seriously get a life and get over it.  I hope you realize what a waste of thought this is and honestly why do you care so deeply.  The man screwed up...who cares.  So have many other men and women and you know what...who cares.  This crap below really exposes your intellect.

First of all, screw you and everybody like you little man.  "get a life" you say?  Grow up little fella..... I know you're either young and stupid or a little older and damaged goods but c'mon....

Why do I care so deeply?? For the same reasons you are defending him with such passion.  You obviously love the guy and have tremendous respect for him. I personally hate him do not respect him.  I'm entitled to my opinion and I can smash him just as easily as you defend him.  Since when do you determine who can say what on these boards?  Idiot.

As for my intellect, just one thing quickly...  if there was a secure way of doing it, I would bet my 10 thousand dollars to your 2 thousand dollars ( I doubt you even have that but anyhow) that I'm not only smarter, but that I have a better job, a better paying job, a better career and more of a family then you've even dreamed of......

So careful hiding behind your little screen with your Tiger jersey on and your pants down.....nobody is gonna hurt your Tiger fella...

You're right.  I am smart.  Now you can start a thread about how a rich golfer and a smart message board poster really don't care about how we let you down.
