Forget the ball: This time, Bubba gets bopped

NORTON, Mass. -- Steve Elkington is perhaps the most fearless guy on the PGA Tour.

And it has nothing to do with his style of play.

The former major winner, who has been known to produce some colorful drawings and caricatures of his peers, is part of a website called that not only is provocative, but has got to be downright cringe-inducing for some of his brethren.

Already this week, Elk's site has absolutely skewered Phil Mickelson for switching to the belly putter -- the drawing suggested that Phil put the end of the putter in his belly between the cake and a chili dog -- and Monday morning he chided Bubba Watson for his occasionally meandering TV interviews.

A couple of years ago, Watson was caught by TV microphones ripping into playing partner Elkington, whom he believed kept moving as Watson was preparing to hit. Watson was overheard saying, "Tell you what, veterans can kiss my ass."

They have since become pretty good friends. Good thing.

Elkington, who has a classic, no-holds-barred, Aussie sense of humor, posted a rather wild-eyed caricature of Watson, a few hours before he took a one-shot lead into the final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

When Watson saw the artwork, he Tweeted, "Awesome!"

Of course, it's unclear how Mickelson -- whom Elkington has routinely touted as the best thing the PGA Tour has going -- felt about the belly putter gag (see below) he unveiled earlier this week when Lefty switched to the long stick.

Elk is fearless, to say the least. A slew of Elk's other targets, including Tim Finchem and the FedEx Cup, can be viewed in the Cartoon Corner at

Phil a righty?

Did anybody notice that Phil is putting with a right handed putter and conventional right handed grip?

Steve Elkington is so cool, that I doubt anyone on the tour would ever really be upset with him.  It's not like he is taking shots at these guys behind there backs.  He is putting this stuff out there for all to see and he could care  a less.  Good for him for bringing some life into this horrifically boring professional golf season.

Hurray for Elk!

Elk is a rare breed...

I would bet Lefty isn't all that upset.  Elk's rep is that of the player one would probably enjoy having a beer with the most.  Except it wouldn't be just one beer.  I would be he can get away with saying stuff that nobody else on the tour can.

Bubba Watson is the one of the quirkiest personalities on the tour, and that's saying a bunch.  He may win some majors before his career is over, but I just don't envision his personality and mental prowess ever catching up to his immense talent.  On talent alone, that means he is destined to underachieve.

The same has come true for Mr. Elkington, he of pure beauty in swing, but quirky in nature.  It takes one to know one.
