Judging by his brains, good looks and killer instinct, it seemed when Tiger Woods came into our lives he had the ability to be anything he wanted. Sure, he was a golfer since basically birth, but his larger than life persona made it seem like he could be a CEO, professional baseball player or even the president.

But one of the things you probably didn’t expect to hear is that at one point, Tiger seriously considered becoming a Navy SEAL.

Golf Digest has some excerpts from Hank Haney’s tell-all Tiger book, and one of the quotations from Hank says that Tiger once told him he seriously was considering leaving golf to join one of the most elite forces in our military.

"Tiger was seriously considering becoming a Navy SEAL. I didn't know how he'd go about it, but when he talked about it, it was clear he had a plan....I thought, Wow, here is Tiger Woods, greatest athlete on the planet, maybe the greatest athlete ever, right in the middle of his prime, basically ready to leave it all behind for a military life."

As Mr. Wall points out, there isn’t exactly a time indicated in Haney’s quotes, but to say “the middle of his prime” meant that it had to have been when Woods was winning all those majors, not when his personal life was in shambles.

That, in itself, is pretty incredible because it shows that Tiger really thought about doing this for no other reason than to serve his country.

Tiger’s dad, Earl, was a Green Beret in the United States Army so it isn’t like Tiger didn’t have a military background, but it’s incredible to hear he even thought to do this with the level of fame and success he reached at this certain point.

Haney: Tiger considered becoming a Navy SEAL

You have to admit this would make one heckuva good movie.  The screenplay writes itself:

Admiral: Tiger, we have a special mission we feel only you can accomplish.

Tiger:  G--d--- it!  What is it this time?

Admiral: We need you to cross Niagra Falls into Canada and rescue Dr. Anthony Galea.  The big Army-Navy golf match is this weekend and my knee requires some of his magic.

Tiger: I'll need my team.  Elling, Hoggard, and Tilghman.

Admiral:  Of course.

Tiger: Consider it done.

Thought about becoming a Navy Seal?  He'd have to think about making it through basic training first.

COULDNT AGREE MORE!!! Greatest athlete of all time????what a joke!!!golf is a joke.Is it really a sport???i have always thought of it as a hobby!!lol   tiger woods a great athlete???so does that make the other guys who play golf{you know..the fat rounded belly guys} athletes???get real...tigers a joke..golf is a joke!!!WHO CARES ABOUT GOLF!!!!!  and of course who really cares about this jerkoff tiger woods!!
Nice perspective, ever try putting 4 days of 18 holes together ? You might find it a little more work than just a hobby to be able to earn a living at it ? Tiger could have his worst 4 day weekend against you and beat you by 30+ strokes every day, not even play off the fairways. Trust me, as a hobbyist at it, putting the little ball in the hole for two over par will grind you down, mentally & physically. Anyone can bang the ball and eventually get it in, but to do it under par every outing ? If it were easy and the competition that sparse, we'd all be doing it.

What a shame.  Tiger literally had the world in the palm of his hands.  All he needed to do was to be more professional on the course and Phil-friendly to fans around the course.  I quess his tragic flaws would have surfaced anyway, but at least he would have had more support.  Well.....maybe not.  This greatest athlete stuff is a joke.

Yeah, ok. Good one. Tiger overcoming hardship and being able to withstand more than 2 days without punami is as realistic as a Republican candidate beating Obama in the upcoming elections.

Haha. So I can't wait to see what all you racists do when Tiger starts winning again!
So if I don't like Woods that means I'm a racist. What if you're black and you don't like Woods? I guess you're an Uncle Tom. If you're a Woods fan then you automatically don't like Mickelson. That makes you a racist if you're black or a white lefty phobe if you're white. Or just an idiot. Why don't you just go on and put that race card back in your wallet for another day.

Tiger could never in his wildest dreams become a Navy Seal.  He doesn't have the discipline or the staying power to make the grade.  He is not a team player.  He is strictly an individual and that is not a part of the Seal makeup.  Thought the article was ridiculous at best.
