Wisniewski gets two games

Posted on: October 12, 2010 5:55 pm
Obviously the league considers what the Islanders defenseman did to be a lot less family-friendly than a throat slashing gesture, and so James Wisniewski got an extra game in his suspension.

Chicago’s Nick Boynton was forced to sit for one game for his slicing motion a couple of weeks ago, but the already injured-plagued Islanders will lose Wisniewski for two because of his explicit sexual gesture on the ice.

See it came in an afternoon game designed to attract kids. With commissioner Gary Bettman in the house. Of course Wisniewski would have been punished even without those factors, and two games does seem about right for being a jackass in public.

The league can’t have impressionable fans subjected to that kind of behavior, not on the ice anyway. But maybe it will be okay on television, say like at the end of the year when HBO cameras will go inside the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals.

Wonder what folks will see and hear then.

Wisniewski gets two games

Well, I was watching the game, and it was pretty obvious. I was surprized, but I also thought it was very funny. I don't think MSG replayed it at all, or if they did, maybe once, but neither Sam or Joe commented on it.  I didn't think anything of it until I logged onto CBS Sportsline later in the afternoon and saw the story - by then it was all over Youtube. I'm sure a lot of what is said on the ice during one of those post whistle scrums is not for a family audience, but with Wis making the obvious gesture the NHL didn't have a choice in handing down a penalty. It certainly didn't help matters that he directed the barb at Avery, who has his own history with the league. Wis is no choir boy either.

Wisniewski gets two games

I don't think too many people really saw it as it was happening.I talked to a couple people who have the nhl network and they didn't see it at first. If it wasn't replayed over and over it probably wouldn't have been an issue but it was.I don't agree with what he did but he should have just been fined. And thats just my opinion.

Austin you root for the Mets. Your opinion is therefore invalid. Why dont you and krod go beat the crap out of your father in laws and then you can all meet up with Avery and play with his little dollies.

Way to go Scythe!!! Way to lay the hammer down there. The Islanders beat the Rangers once and you come out of the woodwork. I was wondering if I can still get tickets to the next home game at Nassau or do you think it will be a sellout. Wisniewski got the suspension because of his reputation. I thought 4 would have made more sense. He is like a 10 year old school girl to react like that to sean avery talkin trash. A complete d-bag!

Wow Candyas you are a genius. All Islander fans are gay and ignorant. Wonder why half your posts got deleted. Probably not because you are brilliant it's probably more because you are an ignorant dumbass. Your just pissed because your Rangers suck and lost to the Islanders who were playing w/o their best three players.

Nice signing of Boogard by the way. 4 years at 1.65 mil per year. Great deal for a 4th liner.

Oh and you seem to know an awful lot about knobgobbling based on your statement above. I wonder why that is...

So if Bettman didn't see it...what? It never happened?

Because Bettman didn't see it...that means not one of the kids in attendance didn't?

If someone gets under your skin enough to cause you to act like a 12 year old...maybe you should play tennis.

If it was the other way around and Avery did it, he would have got atleast 10.
