Texas makes its final statement

So is that enough?

Is the second-largest victory in the series enough?

Texas sure thinks so but there are a couple of more precincts be heard from on Saturday.

One thing is for sure after Texas' 49-9 victory over hapless Texas A&M on Thursday. Mack Brown continues to leave points on the field. Much like he did two weeks ago against Kansas, Brown called off the dogs in the fourth quarter. The Horns could have scored a couple of more touchdowns but Brown figured that 49 was enough. There is a fine line between beating an opponent and piling on. Brown seems to have found it.

Now, how does a 40-point win over a doormat at home translate to the burden on Oklahoma on Saturday. The Sooners will be on the road against a much tougher opponent. It might be that any kind of victory vaults Oklahoma over Texas in the BCS standings. In case you've forgotten, Texas Tech, Texas and Oklahoma are headed for a three-way tie in the Big 12 South.

Saturday's action will close the loop on the four common opponents for the three teams -- Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Kansas.

Oklahoma has beaten three of the four (with Okie State still to go) by an average of 27.3 points.

Texas has beaten all four by an average of 26.5

Tech has been three of the four (with Baylor still to go) by an average of 32.

While Bob Stoops says he is through campaigning, Texas is not. Signs were passed out before the game reading "45-35" reminding voters of the score of the Oklahoma game on Oct. 11. There is even a rumor that a plane will be flying over Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday trailed by a banner with the score.

Hey, no one said it was going to be classy.

Wow!

You're special.

BTW, TexasSooner was comparing the number of points scored against A&M by all their opponents only because so many people were holding up the total of 49 that Texas put up against them as if it was some tremendous feat.

"in a perfect world Tech should get just as much shot as the other two.  But they dont, they lost big late."

And who beat them?

Then if OU beats OSU the same can be said about ut vs. tech...they had their chance and lost...end of story!  It doesn't matter what we know...the voters and computers will decide...either team will be deserving and will represent the south very good in kc and possibly miami.

Texas makes its final statement

How do we know that Oklahoma is the better team NOW?  Just because they're winning by bigger scores?  They had their chance and lost - end of story!

Texas makes its final statement

How am I being a sore loser?  I'm just tired of hearing from the media(plus broadcast last night) and fans how it is between ou and texas alone.  If they are ahead of us that is fine, the system worked in their favor.  You can't tell me you watched that game last night and weren't thinking 39-33.  All I was saying is that you can't leave tech out of the conversation, they can't win in a tiebreaker, but they still have the same record.  We could very well lose tomorrow, I am not claiming anything.  If we do lose, the team they want to forget about is in and they are not.  They could very well keep #2 and if they do then they deserve itThat's all I was trying to say.  I don't ever get on these boards but I saw back and forth between a couple of guys and one guy just didn't understand why tech should factor in so I just got some steam off my back!  My wife doesn't care, so I to get it out another way.  lol

Quit being a sore loser before the fact! The way you are talking it has already been decided that OU was going to take the Big 12 South Championship. Relax wait until Sunday night for the final results.

I'm for OU but that doesn't mean they are going to do it.

Texas makes its final statement

Tech, OU and UT will be tied with a 7-1 conference record, so they are in the discussion of a tiebreaker...it is as easy as that!  Don't make it harder on yourself because of last second touchdowns or blowouts.  Regardless of scores they are all 3 TIED!  Regardless of national ranking they are all 3 TIED in the conference!  If OU were to lose, Tech is the South champ.  So how can they not be in the discussion?  Just live with whatever happens and understand that this is really easy to understand no matter how much espn wants you to believe that it is between only OU and texas.  Everyone can talk about how texas takes their starters out in the 4th qtr, however fail to mention OU does not score in the 4th qtr.

You can't change the fact that tech has the same conf. record....that is all that matters!  YES, they are part of the equation!

Texas makes its final statement

Lucky for Oklahoma that one game does not make a season and never has.  What you and everyone else seems to forget is that it is not between OU and texas, it is between those two plus tech.  So 45-35 only means as much as 39-33 and 65-21.   When Oklahoma wins in Stillwater, it will be the only road win for the top 4 against the top 4 of the south division. All texas fans have talked about was winning 45-35 on a neutral field.  So when Oklahoma wins an actual road game in a hostile environment, everything will fall into place the way it should.  Believe me that when Oklahoma fans are sitting in Arrowhead, Texas will be the last thought on their minds.

Texas makes its final statement

Texas has the best scoring defense in the Big XII, bar none.  Along with the head to head advantage for Texas, that is the most important thing to consider.  UT's defense gives them the best chance to be victorious in the BCS championship game whether the opponent is Fla, Bama, SC, Penn State or OU.

OU's defense is pathetic and has been so all year and especially after they lost Reynolds in the TX/OU game.  They put up a hell of a show in Norman v. Texas Tech, however, Tech was overwhelmed and never plays well on the road (KU game being the lone exception this year).
