Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn after 10 seasons. While it is not immediately clear if he was fired or resigned, the likeable coach will do just fine. He is owed $6 million in a buyout due in a couple of $3 million installments.

There are no jobs out there at the moment that seem to fit him. Tuberville was rumored to be interested in Clemson but that job just filled with interim coach Dabo Swinney.

The school hasn't waited around. Tubs has spoken to both AD Jay Jacobs and president Jay Gogue since Monday. It has contacted both Mike Leach and Bobby Petrino. Also, Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp told the school no. Auburn may have contacted Steve Spurrier as well.

At this moment, Auburn's top choices seem to be Petrino and Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson. Petrino might be tough to pry loose from Arkansas. He apparently has a non-compete clause in his contract that could be expensive to get out of.

Russ Campbell, Petrino's agent, said he has not been contacted by Auburn and that his client is not a candidate "for any hypothetical opening" Auburn may have.

Also watch for Florida State's Jimbo Fisher to get a call. He has ties to the school.

Not a fan of either BUT the last time I looked chop blocks are legal. May Saban should teach them how to avoid the chop?

Finally! Hopefully now we can get a coach that plays to win not a coach that plays not to lose. Mike Leach would be the best option in my mind.

Paul Johnson is a hot candidate. Multiple D 1-AA championships at Georgia Southern. Undefeated versus Army. What's shocking is he beat UGA at Athens, ga. with what many would claim is less talent and a gadget offense.

Now UGA fans have to be concerned about Mark Richt. He plays at Ga. Tech next year. Even though Richt has dominated the matchup he will probably lose out if he loses to Tech.

Are expectations too high at schools? I mean look at the BCS conferences: K-State, Mississippi State, Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson. What did these people expect. Every school can't win every year.

But check out the rivalry games in which the losing coach lost by a wide margin and resigned/fired/bought out:

Kansas 52, Kansas State 21 --> Coach fired

Mississipi 45, Mississippi State 0 --> Coach fired

Alabama 36, Auburn 0 --> Coach fired

Alabama 29, Tennessee 9 --> Coach fired

Opposite also is important:

Clemson 31, South Carolina 14 --> Swinney named new coach after beating rival

I don't understand how a coach who teaches his players to CHOP block and ruin the careers of other kids is a class act....
Last year Auburn took out Dorsey's knees... this year they tried to take out Alabama's Luther Davis's knee. THANK GOD Luther Davis moved out of the way. IF you don't know what I'm talking about then search youtube for Auburn, chopblock.

Sadly, it is Bammer Fans like you that everyone "hats" (your word). Auburn kicked your butts for six straight years and now one win against them in your last seven tries and Nick Satan is god. Refresh my memory on how many coaches bama has been through in the last seven years. Stay in your Bama section of the boards and keep your foulmouthed thoughts to yourself.  I am glad that all Bama fans are not like you...some actually have some class. So git on back to yer chewin terbacky and yeller teeth, gather your toilet paper (two rolls required) with laundry detergent box to form your battle cry, grab yer houndstooth hats and ,in the words of your probably hero Hank Hill, "Shut the hell up!"

GO GATORS!!!! Maybe Bama can beat the Utes!

Hah! Not likely, the man just paid 4 million to get out of his West Virginia gig and signed a contract just last month at Michigan. He isn't going anywhere. Just shows the rumor mill is already grinding away.

I guess all those Auburn commitments will switch back to Troy State and JSU.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Tuberville has been one the best big game coaches in the country the past few years. This may be a great time for him to take a year off, do some broadcasting and get a strong gig next year. Notre Dame will be open, Michigan could be open. Florida State could be open (especially if Jimbo Fisher cuts bait. Texas A&M could be open. Either way, Tuberville is a class act and Auburn hasn't always been good to him. One loss to 'Bama in 7 years.

I am a huge Alabama Fan and was at the game this past weekend.  I do not see the sense in the firing of this coach.  I do not hate Auburn, I save all my hate for Tennessee and was happy to see Fat Phil get fired and leave.  I hope Tommy finds a job and Mississippi State would be a good fit.
