Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn after 10 seasons. While it is not immediately clear if he was fired or resigned, the likeable coach will do just fine. He is owed $6 million in a buyout due in a couple of $3 million installments.

There are no jobs out there at the moment that seem to fit him. Tuberville was rumored to be interested in Clemson but that job just filled with interim coach Dabo Swinney.

The school hasn't waited around. Tubs has spoken to both AD Jay Jacobs and president Jay Gogue since Monday. It has contacted both Mike Leach and Bobby Petrino. Also, Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp told the school no. Auburn may have contacted Steve Spurrier as well.

At this moment, Auburn's top choices seem to be Petrino and Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson. Petrino might be tough to pry loose from Arkansas. He apparently has a non-compete clause in his contract that could be expensive to get out of.

Russ Campbell, Petrino's agent, said he has not been contacted by Auburn and that his client is not a candidate "for any hypothetical opening" Auburn may have.

Also watch for Florida State's Jimbo Fisher to get a call. He has ties to the school.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

It is a shame that Tubbs got fired after one down year, but that's the business.  It's also something that they alegedly contacted Bobby Petrino.  Wonder if he would leave Arkansas after only one year.  Then again, he didn't even last a year with the Falcons.  I wouldn't be completely surprised if he left.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Maybe someone with better knowledge of the situation at Auburn can help me (us) out here...

Who fired Tony Franklin?  Are either of these possible?

A) Tubby fired Franklin thus ticking off the AD who in turn told Tubby to leave.

B) The AD fired Franklin thus ticking off Tubby who decided to quit.

Maybe Tuberville will go to the Big 12 and teach them some defense.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

BAD, BAD MOVE AUBURN, this is not fun to see, I always liked Tubs even though I'm a UGA fan. One bad year and he's out. BAD MOVE. I am confident he could've turned things around. I'm sure that the attempt to go to the spread offense was a bad decision, but he could've turned things around. I can't say this enough, this is a bad move.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Depends...if he was fired for a terrible season, its a bad idea because he has earned a bad season or two...if he was fired for bowing to the pressure and changing his offense to appease the morons of his school, then so be it...he should have shown more backbone

The wrong decision...for now

Tommy Tuberville out at Auburn? The same man that led the Tigers to a perfect 13-0 record just a few seasons ago, and was all but robbed of a national championship might I add, has been let go? He was 5-1 in bowl games for god's sake. Maybe someone on the inside knows something I don't, which is a very realistic possibility, but from my point of view, they just kicked a good coach to the curb. Note that I didn't say great, but a very good one. I know the switch to the spread offense wasn't working out, but how many coaches have the guts to actually throw out a playbook that was so successful, just to make sure his offense fit his players. Tuberville was doing what he thought was best for the team. Who knows, if the new spread offense wasn't implemented Auburn's record may have been worse and he may have been fired mid-season rather than "bought out" at the end. Auburn's athletic director is a puppet, with wealthy southern boosters being his puppet master. I hope Tuberville goes to Mississippi State to takeover for Sylvester Croom, and goes back to Auburn for revenge. Lets face it, there is no way this guy doesn't get another job in the near future if he so chooses.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

As a Auburn fan I dislike the move but I feel it is warranted.  I said that the only way he could save his job after the West Viginia game was to beat GA or Bama and neither could be done.  I wish him all the best but unforunately we have to change just like the SEC to remain competitive.  Saban had alot to do with this firing believe what you want but it is true.  When he came and started taking the recruits it was only a matter of time.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Believe it or not, I'm sad to see Tubs out at Auburn.  He's a guy that has coached with a lot of passion,

and he's truly a man of character.  Though I cheer for the Tide and have no care for anything blue and

orange, I wish him and Auburn the best.  The Bama/Auburn rivalry is always at it's best when BOTH

schools are at their best, and when both schools have a quality coach roaming the sidelines.  I've been

around Tubs on many occasions and he's always carried himself well and treated folks well.  I wish

him well........

and Rollllll Tide!
