Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn after 10 seasons. While it is not immediately clear if he was fired or resigned, the likeable coach will do just fine. He is owed $6 million in a buyout due in a couple of $3 million installments.

There are no jobs out there at the moment that seem to fit him. Tuberville was rumored to be interested in Clemson but that job just filled with interim coach Dabo Swinney.

The school hasn't waited around. Tubs has spoken to both AD Jay Jacobs and president Jay Gogue since Monday. It has contacted both Mike Leach and Bobby Petrino. Also, Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp told the school no. Auburn may have contacted Steve Spurrier as well.

At this moment, Auburn's top choices seem to be Petrino and Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson. Petrino might be tough to pry loose from Arkansas. He apparently has a non-compete clause in his contract that could be expensive to get out of.

Russ Campbell, Petrino's agent, said he has not been contacted by Auburn and that his client is not a candidate "for any hypothetical opening" Auburn may have.

Also watch for Florida State's Jimbo Fisher to get a call. He has ties to the school.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Suddenly there's a great, unemployed coach out there.  Think he'll wait a year until a job he wants comes along?  His name will have to come up in most high-profile job openings.

BRING HIM TO STARKVILLE

one school's trash is another school's treasure.  what mindset do u have to be in to let him go, after one losing season in which the brand-new o coordinator was canned mid-season?  and don't blame it on the weed bc that's just insane...

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

As a life long Auburn fan and graduate, class of 57, I'm saddened at the news of Tuberville's dismissal. He is a class act and his 85-40 record at Auburn is very respectable especially in the SEC. Obviously the current ,disastrous season did him. Honestly, the program seemed to slip slightly in the prior 2 years but i believe Tubs could have turned it around if the powers that be had showed a little patience. However, in the football crazy South, patience is not a common commodity when football is concerned.I thank Coach Tuberville for his valuable contributions at Auburn and wish him the very best in future endevours.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

All I can say is, as a lifelong LSU Tiger fan, Auburn has let go a fine coach.  No one has challenged my Tigers to play at their absolute highest level as consistently as Tubs did over the last decade.  Each year, while Tubs has been at Auburn, the Tigers vs. Tigers game has loomed as a classic slugfest.  The games have been super.

I wish Tuberville all the best, even though he was a serious burr in our tail.  I am confident that he will land on his feet.  God bless.

Rodriguez a better fit

Don't be surprised if Rich Rodriguez is looked at.  His first year at UM has been a disaster and the offense that he runs is better suited to the SEC brand of football.  He's already got ties to the South having been part of the Clemson staff and is a great recruiter in Florida.

Also, according to Mark May last week, RichRod was really trying to angle in for the Clemson gig and a lot of UM alumni would be happy to see RichRod gone.

Plus since UM's not in a Bowl Game, RR is availble.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

Now a days maybe 10 years is long enough to coach at one school. It seems they do get burned out and maybe a change will be good for both the school and Tuberville.

I like him and think he is a good coach. I know Auburn will bounce back, they always do.

Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn

If this is a fact then it is Auburn's loss. I've said it before and I'll say it again...Tommy Tuberville is a good coach and a class act. Sometimes, no matter what you do, things just don't work out the way you want. For crying out loud, everybody has a slump at one time or another but the good ones always bounced back. I've been supportive of leaving the man alone and letting him do what he's good at. It would be ironic if they let him go and, at his next job, he beat the crap out of his old school.

What goes around, comes around.

RTR&MGB!!!

STUPID! What idiots. I am an Auburn season ticket holder and this is just absolutely ridiculous. One losing season in how long!? We all must pay attention and dot our I's and cross our T's or we all may lose our jobs!
