Florida: Kiffin needs to issue a public apology

Florida isn't going to let this pass. This statement was just released from Gators AD Jeremy Foley:

“There was no rule violation and we have confirmed this with
Southeastern Conference. It is obvious that Coach Kiffin doesn’t know
that there is not a rule precluding phone contact with a prospect during
an official visit on another campus during a contact period.

"Hisallegations are inappropriate, out of line and, most importantly,
totally false. It is completely unfair to Urban Meyer, our coaching
staff, our football program and our institution. The appropriate action
at this time in my opinion is for Coach Kiffin to make a public apology.
His comments not only slandered our coach, but he violated SEC rules by
publicly criticizing another coach and institution."

Florida: Kiffin needs to issue a public apology

That's what Kiffin was doing, idiot! He was talking to HIS OWN FANS to get them excited about something.  It didn't seem anything could be exciting after last season, but the way everybody is getting so mad and freaked out over this, us Vol fans just are sitting back laughing at the way you chickens are scrambling!!

Steve Spurrier- Great college coaching career in the 80s and 90s.  Didn't do squat in NFL...Nick Saban- Great college coaching career at LSU and now at Alabama.  Didn't to squat in NFL...
You can't judge a coach by his NFL record.  It might be the same sport, but it's a whole different ballgame.

Florida: Kiffin needs to issue a public apology

I seem to recall when Kiffin was first named the UT coach, Spurrier publically said Kiffin had violated the rules by contacting a recruit before he had passed the recruiting test (which Kiffin had already passed).

I qualified both of my statements earlier by saying that Kiffin shouldn't have said anything and that Spurrier could back up his words with success on the field.  Kiffin didn't go out of his way to be a jerk, he simply told a group of fans at a signing day breakfast celebration Thursday morning (just like you say Spurrier did) that Meyer phoned Richardson while he was making his official visit to Tennessee.  Then the media got hold of it, and voila, instant vitriolic comments between UT and UF fans.

Uhhhh, what you criticize Spurrier for doing and Lane doing are not even close.  Spurrier NEVER came out and publicly accused any rival coach of cheating- he only made jokes about rivals while speaking at BOOSTER CLUB meetings, to his own fans, and the media ran with it like he did at a press conference.  Lame Kiffen couldn't even sniff Spurrier's jock, let alone Meyer's.

Didn't Foley just violate the same SEC rule by calling out Kiffin?

The guy is trying to light a much needed fire in a program that's been stale for years.   Myers, Saban or Spurrier are saints?  Don't rub them the wrong way?   Yeah....running up 70 on a military institution is real classy.    The gators offense had less than 250 yards vs the Vols last year so spare the "blow out revenge" bull.   UT will have the same type of athletes after your cheerleader in the 15 jersey is gone.

Florida: Kiffin needs to issue a public apology

When I watch sports, it bugs me to no end to watch players jaw back and forth when they really should just shut up and play ball.  On the same level, I kind of wish that Kiffin would just shut up and coach.  I'm sure that Kiffin, Meyer, Saban, Spurrier, Miles, Richt, etc. have all made a habit of bending the rules or interpreting them in a way that favors them over the years.  To that end, it seems sort of bootleg for Kiffin to call out Meyer in public.  However, as a Tennessee fan, I don't mind the confidence/arrogance that Lane has exhibited so far.  Florida fans, do you remember a guy named Spurrier who frequently mouthed off and rubbed everybody the wrong way?  I'll admit, he had the success to back it up, but brashness goes a long way in the SEC.  I'm curious to see the product that UT puts on the field.  And Florida fans, if you have tremendous confidence in your ability to humble Kiffin, then shut up and let your boys prove it in September.

This guy clearly did not realize how tough a job it will be being an SEC Coach! Sour grapes are being tasted in Knoxville today! He needs to issue an apology and stop looking like a whiney baby!
