Curveball from the Pac-10

Who is Larry Scott? He just got named the new commissioner of the Pac-10. I read the release and I still don't have a clue.

Apparently, Scott is well accomplished as head of the Women's Tennis Association. What, Billie Jean King wasn't available? When I think of women's tennis, I don't think WTA. In fact, I don't think at all. I usually switch the channel unless Maria Sharapova is playing.

You know where this heading don't you? Submitted for approval, a list of organizations more relevant than the WTA.

Major League Lacrosse ... The National Intramural Co-ed Inner Tube Water Polo Association ... The Belinda Carlisle Fan Club ... The Arena League Football Players Association ... Quilters International ... Midwest Angus Breeders Association ...

Do I need to go on?

I'll cut Larry a break. This isn't on him. He applied for the job and got it. I'm sure the Stanford tennis coach is happy. It's the Pac-10 I don't understand. It was talking to San Diego Padres GM Sandy Alderson. It twice offered the job to the guy who runs the NCAA Tournament, a wonderfully qualified guy named Greg Shaheen.

We know now that Scott wasn't exactly a first choice. Now he has to learn the BCS, which is slightly more complicated than tennis' tiebreaker.

Maria Sharapova is Maria Sharapova. Whether she belongs to the WTA or not is meaningless to me. She's hot, OK? Now it's up to L. Scott to prove to me that he matters.

Curveball from the Pac-10

Dodd, you're a big doucher.  Just because you don't care about tennis doesn't mean nobody cares about it.  Try opening up your mind and see the big picture.  There are more important people in the world than you...hard to swallow for a jerk like you I know.  Everything you write is crap, and Maria Sharapova being hot has what to do with the Pac-10?  She doesn't read your garbage just like I'm done reading your garbage.  Try writing something that isn't full of crap some time.

This is pathetic, Dodd. Women's tennis actually does have a following, and if you can't understand the tennis tiebreakers, you're a sorry excuse for a sportswriter. Then again, when you write trash like this, you're a sorry excuse for a sportswriter anyway.

 Ba Bahwkus

You are so correct. I mean who cares about Baseball or Basketball. You know those waterdowned sports that know one pays attention too. Last time I checked the Pac10 has more national champions in those sports then the B10 and SEC combined.

Come on dude and the Raiders have a tradition of excellence too!

You are really Al Davis aren't you?

Curveball from the Pac-10

The Pacific 10 conference doesn't revolve around football like other BCS conferences.  It offers a much more diverse and wide array of collegiate sports/competition/activities.  I think Dodd was upset that the PAC-10 didn't select someone who is a old egotistic football player turned blow-hard long winded living on past glory coach who can bloviate past grid iron heroics with a dirty macho locker room style of talk, wears polyester pants, and is more than willing to interview with any internet "journalist".

I'm thinking the league wants a better TV contract, better bowls and possibly expansion.

As long as this guy votes yes on a playoff and fixes the officiating, he's a great hire.

What?!?!  Watered-down?  If anything Penn State only adds to the prestige of the BigTen.  And the addition of Notre Dame (though we all know how greedy churches are so it's not likely) would make it the penultimate Super Conference.  Sorry, PAC-10 but nobody other than the participants (and probably their parents who make up the majority of the crowds at the events) cares about all the obscure sports you guys(?) win championships in.  Your conference is USC and a bag of jelly beans and that's it.

Curveball from the Pac-10

This PAC10 is a conference of tradition, don't ruin it like so many other conferences have.

At one time, wasn't it the PAC-8?

Hmmmm...seems as though they didn't mind adding to that tradition...
