OK, that you knew. But you didn't know that the Gators were favored by 73 in their opener.
That's news because you won't -- in fact, you can't -- find a line on the game in Vegas. That's because sports books don't list lines involving I-AA opponents.
"Charleston not a board team, not one of the 120 I-A teams," explained a spokesman for Las Vegas Sports Consultants, the company that largely sets the lines for some of the bigger sports books. "You might able to find it (a line) offshore somewhere."
The line comes from USA Today's Danny Sheridan who I think would post favorites in cockroach fights (or the odds of Rick Pitino impregnating someone within the last six years). Not to cast blame here. We are talking about the gaming industry, where there really are no heroes.
Anyway, my guy at LVSC says if there was a legit line on the game, Florida would be a 50-55 point favorite. Theoretically.
"It's against gaming regulations to post odds on a non-board team," he said.
Thank God, there is some purity left in Las Vegas.

Florida favored to beat Charleston SouthernHow come Florida doesn't schedule USC for a non-conference game like OSU does? USC this year, Miami of FL next year and then Oklahoma in a few years, where's Floridas out of conference schedule? I see more 1-AA schools in their future.Well why won't those teams try to schedule Florida? Why isn't Ohio St lobbying to get Florida on their OOC schedule? Hmmm, could it be because not many teams want anything to do with the Gators unless they have to play them? Some of y'all think that Florida is the only team to have a cupcake on their schedule. Play in the SEC week in and week out and you'll see things differently.
And Florida plays FSU every year and has Miami on their schedule often too. And just because Ohio St schedules a tough OOC team every now and then (they have to after playing the equivalent of I-AA teams in conference the rest of the year) doesn't impress me because they'll get smacked around when they do. I see more beatings by the SEC in Ohio State's future. |

Florida favored to beat Charleston SouthernIf that point spread is 73, I wonder what the spread would be when Penn St. plays Eastern Illinois? I think 80-90 might be a good starting point. What are teams thinking when they schedule teams like that? The BCS should grow a pair and penalize teams for scheduling games like that. But I don't see that happening anytime soon because the BCS doesn't have a pair. Penn St. should be totally embarassed to be playing a team that went 5-7 last year. Why doesn't Joe Pa just come clean and admit, "They wanted the money and we wanted the win (and play our second and third stringers for most of the game)." |

Florida favored to beat Charleston SouthernNo, "Chilly D" you're actually dead wrong. Running up a score against a so-called "powerhouse" Big 10 team seems to be the only thing that shuts you guys up. For weeks and weeks leading up to that game, all us Gator fans heard about was how OSU was going to kill us, maim us, slaughter us. How Michigan was getting the short end of the straw because they didn't get a rematch. How no one would tune into this blow out. So how'd it feel to get slapped in the mouth like a little school girl by a real powerhouse SEC team? It apparently still stings, because even the mention of it makes you come here and cry about it.
Boo hoo. No sympathy here. And yodismike, you are a moron. Why don't you learn a little college football history son. The Gator fanbase has been HUGE from the beginning of time. The Swamp has been sold out for years and years and years. Through the Zook years. Through the Galen Hall years. Through the Charlie Pell years. And you'll find that across the board. Even Mississippi State fills their stadium to capacity week in and week out. That's just how SEC football is buddy. To suggest the Gator Nation is somehow "new" tells me exactly how much you know about college football: not much. |

Florida favored to beat Charleston SouthernDBLG8R,
You're obviously one of the fans yodismike is talking about. Running up scores like that on anyone shows how much class Meyer really has. And you guys do it regularly. You mentioning the 41-14 again is just as bad as the Miami fans still crying about the phantom interference call. At least tOSU beats the teams we're supposed to beat. And when tOSU schedules a cupcake, they at least have the courtesy to leave the state of Ohio once in a while and give that cupcake team a home game. You poor shmucks can't afford to pay for your team to leave the Sunshine State. At least you haven't since that 1991 game. Go Bucks!!! |

Last time I checked Navy was 1-A nor are they a 73 pt underdog, Florida wouldn't mind playing those teams more. |

Florida favored to beat Charleston SouthernThe biggest joke on here are all the defensive Florida fans who are defending the number 1 team in the country playing Charleston Southern.....I guess The Citadel is just to much of a challenge? God, I hate all these early season joke games. What kind of system actually thinks this kind of game is good or has any value at all?....oh, that would be the BCS system.

Is that with the second- or third-string FL offense?
