Florida favored to beat Charleston Southern

OK, that you knew. But you didn't know that the Gators were favored by 73 in their opener.

That's news because you won't -- in fact, you can't -- find a line on the game in Vegas. That's because sports books don't list lines involving I-AA opponents.

"Charleston not a board team, not one of the 120 I-A teams," explained a spokesman for Las Vegas Sports Consultants, the company that largely sets the lines for some of the bigger sports books. "You might able to find it (a line) offshore somewhere."

The line comes from USA Today's Danny Sheridan who I think would post favorites in cockroach fights (or the odds of Rick Pitino impregnating someone within the last six years). Not to cast blame here. We are talking about the gaming industry, where there really are no heroes.

Anyway, my guy at LVSC says if there was a legit line on the game, Florida would be a 50-55 point favorite. Theoretically.

"It's against gaming regulations to post odds on a non-board team," he said.

Thank God, there is some purity left in Las Vegas.

What business does the florida thugators have playing schools like charleston southern. Georgia opens against Oklahoma state, now theres a real football game urban. Whoever loses that game should go ahead of florida in the rankings.

This is a Notre Dame fan talking about schedules.  As soon as I finished laughing, I figured I'd reply.  Don't worry about what Georgia's doing, they get theirs on Oct 31.  And if Notre Dame and their whale coach could ever mount a team you could play with the big boys like Florida.  Until then, keep playing the service academies and the Big 10.  Oh, I'm sorry, and your annual butt whipping against USC.

Bad part about that is Florida would actually run up the score on a team like that and see nothing wrong with it, so would their fans.
yodismike, who is a moron by the way, would prefer Florida run it up on Ohio State every game I guess.  Go away moron.

ND 4 Ever - UGA does have a tough schedule but they do play Tennessee Tech.  UF didn't complain when they had Miami and FSU on the schedule while UGA was playing New Mexico State and Wyoming.  Besides, you should know about cupcakes being a ND fan.  And if you want to call out a team for thugs, read the Athens Police Blotter from last summer!
