OK, that you knew. But you didn't know that the Gators were favored by 73 in their opener.

That's news because you won't -- in fact, you can't -- find a line on the game in Vegas. That's because sports books don't list lines involving I-AA opponents.

"Charleston not a board team, not one of the 120 I-A teams," explained a spokesman for Las Vegas Sports Consultants, the company that largely sets the lines for some of the bigger sports books. "You might able to find it (a line) offshore somewhere."

The line comes from USA Today's Danny Sheridan who I think would post favorites in cockroach fights (or the odds of Rick Pitino impregnating someone within the last six years). Not to cast blame here. We are talking about the gaming industry, where there really are no heroes.

Anyway, my guy at LVSC says if there was a legit line on the game, Florida would be a 50-55 point favorite. Theoretically.

"It's against gaming regulations to post odds on a non-board team," he said.

Thank God, there is some purity left in Las Vegas.

So CSU sends their lambs in to be slaughtered for $450,000?  Sounds like prostitution to me!

Giving 73? I'll take Charleston Southern. No way Florida wins 77-0, as that's the only plausible score that would cover the spread (or 77-3).

yodismike, hate much?

The Gators do enjoy running up the score, particularly against Big 10 teams.  Here's one you might remember: 41-14.  Does that ring a bell?  Here's hoping this 1-AA school plays better defense.

Bad part about that is Florida would actually run up the score on a team like that and see nothing wrong with it, so would their fans. That's why Florida put them on the schedule is just to pad their stats for the rest of the season. Plain an simple. Atleast the Big Ten put teams from 1-AA schools on their schedule that have acutally won national championships in their division, Michigan vs App St, Ohio St vs Youngstown St. But it's OK for Florida to put those kind of teams on their schedule, without being critized for it.
