Matt Barkley has a bruised shoulder

Matt Barkley's tone was ominous Saturday night.

After making the rounds from press conference to Gameday to treatment, he met reporters in the USC lockerroom.

Wait, treatment room? Yes.

"I don't know," Barkley said with some concern when someone asked about the third-quarter hit he took against Ohio State.

Now we find out that Barkley has a bruised shoulder. Coach Pete Carroll told the L.A. Times that his quarterback will be evaluated later in the week and that he will "go easy" on Barkley until about Tuesday.

Barkley was hit while trying to throw in USC's 18-15 victory. The hit was so significant that USC called timeout to gauge the seriousness of the injury. Backup Aaron Corp was told to warm up. Barkley was able to continue and eventually led the game-winning touchdown drive.

USC visits improving Washington on Friday.

Oh and the WAC is a supper strong conference??? You guys play 1 or 2 tough games all year and a weak conference schedule. The pac 10 was undeafeated last year in bowl games 6-0. Come over to the pac -10 and You guys would average at least 2 conference loses a year. Like Pete Carroll said , he'll play anyone on a home and home basis !!!!!!!

It was Booty, not Sanchez, who played out the Stanford game with a broken finger.

love it when guys say "we should have beat them" when they didn't.  Cause if they should have, they would have.  Moronic statement from an emotional kid that has not met expectations.  Perhaps this is the springboard to some success for him.

It's called regret...and Pryor should have plenty of it. That last minute of play was terrible! If you're going to run an offense, you have to be cool under pressure and manage the game clock. There is no good reason OSU couldnt drive down field and tie the game up with a field goal....total disaster!

Both QBs have a lot of room to improve and they will. Good game USC. I look forward to a possible rematch in the near future.

"Who cares besides USC fans?  I don't.  This kid is probably going to be the next Tebow.  All you are going to hear about is this kid.  I think he is highly overrated.  And I could careless about his "injury".

What are you talking about??  Matt Barkley is going to be an NFL qb not just a college qb and that is where he is different than tim tebow,  as a player as far as being in the media so far this kid deserves it.  He has just started earning his stripes.  I could see how you are a little bitter that tim tebow is overrated, the kid is a great person and a good player but he would have certainly of been exposed if USC would have gotten the nod to play in the NC game against them last year. But the powers that be want to keep him in the lime light just like they do with Ohio St.  and a lot of overrated sec teams as well.

Also, no worries if Matt Barkely has to sit out because to be honest i was hoping he would come out so every one else could see how good Aaron Corp is.  If it wasn't for his injury he would have been the slight favorite to earn the starting job at USC.

FIGHT ON!!!

Matt Barkley has a bruised shoulder

I am a big time OSU fan but they are in desperate need of an offensive coordinator with some young blood and some ballz.  I have no idea why on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 in two consecutive weeks why we run Boom Harron, 175lbs soaking wet, right up the middle with 3 ton of lineman standing in the way.  Navy was able to stop that, of course USC can as well.  Pryor is a weapon with his legs, not his arm, take some old Vince Young game film out and lets play to TP's strength rather than try to prove he can throw, which he can't...yet !!

The defense played really well, of course that's against a yuppie frosh QB that isn't proven.  My mother can throw to receivers and backs out of the backfield that are open by 10 yards.  Against OSU the recievers were covered, and his #s showed.  The game winning drive was the deciding factor, but the only scoring drive of the game that he led.  They were given the first 7 pts and with tressel not going for a late 4th and 1 in 4 down territory or kicking a 55 yrd field goal, and not calling a designed roll out w/ TP or a run option near the goal line and having to settle for a FG earlier in the game allowed that drive win the game.

OSU wins this game with last years team easily.  Last year we had to play without Beanie at USC and it cost Boechmann his Sr year.  Pryor is a running QB, by his comments to the media, he may be the next Vince Young, or Michael Vick just without any starts in the NFL.  Pryor and Tressel are squarely to blame for this loss.  Tressel took the reins off of Troy Smith cause he had trust in Troy.  Tressel doesn't trust Pryor to take care of the ball and make good decisions, for good reason.  Please, either put TP at RB or WR, or lets run the wildcat 75% of the time and use him to our advantage.

Tress...this isn't I-AA ball anymore, a good defense can't hold teams to 6 pts a game like Y'town state was able to do.  Being a good quality coach you need to be able to adapt and make adjustments.  Please get a young offensive coordinator, allow someone else to take over the offense and play calling, obviously there is too much going on for you to be the head coach and offensive coordinator.  Concentrate on the 99,000 other aspects of being a head coach and delegate the play calling and offensive coordinator job to someone not wearing a sweater vest.  Please!!!
