Matt Barkley has a bruised shoulder

Matt Barkley's tone was ominous Saturday night.

After making the rounds from press conference to Gameday to treatment, he met reporters in the USC lockerroom.

Wait, treatment room? Yes.

"I don't know," Barkley said with some concern when someone asked about the third-quarter hit he took against Ohio State.

Now we find out that Barkley has a bruised shoulder. Coach Pete Carroll told the L.A. Times that his quarterback will be evaluated later in the week and that he will "go easy" on Barkley until about Tuesday.

Barkley was hit while trying to throw in USC's 18-15 victory. The hit was so significant that USC called timeout to gauge the seriousness of the injury. Backup Aaron Corp was told to warm up. Barkley was able to continue and eventually led the game-winning touchdown drive.

USC visits improving Washington on Friday.

Matt Barkley has a bruised shoulder

Re:check that

He got slammed and is dinged.  I was worried that we were watching Stanford all over again with Sanchez telling the coaches all is Okay, when he actually had a broken finger and cost the team a NC shot.

I think you are thinking of John David booty with the broken finger. Sanchez was the back up in that game. If memory serve me right Booty completed the game.

Sanchez started a couple of games until Booty returned to the starting lineup.

I thought the game was well played by both teams. Our defense kept us in the game, because we had no good field position at all during the entire game.

I think that in a couple of games our defense will be scary and playing to the level we have come to expect of our defense. The offense will only get better as Matt learn the offense and get a better handle on what to expect from the wide outs and they get accustom to him and the type of passes he throw.

I am excited for this season of Trojan football.

Matt Barkley has a bruised shoulder

I gotta say, there is no body you like that I dont take great pleasure in beating. Unfortunalyly am old enough to have been on both ends of exciting games - I don't want you to think beating the Irish and Buckeyes (or th Trojans winning and/or losing) are my life.
That said, I hope to see you on the board a lot.  It is great to read a post by someone not simply trash talking.

And this is coming from a Boise State fan?  The WAC is ten times worse then the PAC-10...USC did very good for losing all their players.

Its hard to say that we should have won because we didn't, but in retrospec, the play i call defining on both sides were these...

Of courses, McKights catch out of the backfield. honestly a brilliant call, not anytime during the game did Barkley look at McKnight out of the backfield, then to call that was a great idea...

Pryor missing an open Saine for a long TD pass and on the same drive missing Sazenbacher for a 15 yard TD pass when he was scrambling to his left. That was the best chance and would have clinche it for us, but the play wasn't made and USC won the game... Its easy to go back and say what if, but OSU played there game, but offensive inconsistancy led them to loose. But if OSU were able to have a running game, get something like 3-4 yards a run instead of 1-2, and if Pryor kept his cool and made passes, the way OSU's defense was playing... There was about 14 points missed by OSU during that game, while USC missed 3 points on that missed FG...

So Possible score for OSU, 24 points
Possible score for USC, 21...

I could say that the way OSU played if they had a running game they should have won by 3-7 points maybe 10 points at most... I just didn't see the opportunities to score on USC's side of the ball as I did with OSU, especially with field position. But OSU didn't capitalize and we lost...

Great game USC, i really enjoyed watching it... Make sure to destroy everyone by 20 points and score at least 24 points a game, just to make me feel better that our defense was that good ;b

Mr. Pryor has a long way to go.  He must love Vick, he emulates him with a stupid remark just about everytime I turn around.
I just keep thinking that all these run and gun QB's are a single wing idea.  They are exciting, but "where's the beef?"  Excitment is good if you are willing to settle for not winning with style.

I always wonder about a low scoring game, did the defense do a job or did the offense stink it up.
I looked at the total game stats and tOSU had the better stats until that last play. BUT, as I can attest to from a certain Rose Bowl, it is important to play every second - unless you want to finish second.

Mr. Barkley did a great job.  I am not sure that needs to be qualified (freshman, etc).  He got slammed and is dinged.  I was worried that we were watching Stanford all over again with Sanchez telling the coaches all is Okay, when he actually had a broken finger and cost the team a NC shot.  On the other hand, it is great to have such a capable back up in Mr. Corp. I would like to see him in action, but not at the expense of Barkley.
One thing freshman related that I will say is that he will mature as teh season moves on. If Saturday night is any indicator, we will finish strong and still be undefeated for a while, hopefuly a long while.  I think PC's perfect Nov record has a very good chance of finishing the year with a "0" in the right column.

On that last drive I was really impressed with McKnight. Did he protect the ball or what?

Kudos to tOSU.  Great exciting physical game.  We can only see the past and we saw what happened. Who knows how these teams will stack up.

Hey Tigers365, it is a game-they don't even have a real champion. I guess when you are old enough to shave, it will sink in.

wow someone with a boise state logo says the big 10 is the weakest conference in college football.   just stick to watchin your jv team buddy.   u had ur one national spotlight moment a few years ago and beat THE BIGGEST CHOKERS in college football...Bob
Stoops and the Sooners.  Everyone rags Ohio State but look at OUs BCS record.  1 or 2 and 5 I believe.   Buckeyes by the way are 4-3 in BCS games.

The Ohio Coach Is a joke He acted like he did not want to win the game

Does it surprise you?  Pryor is a Prima Dona. Look at his recruiting drama.
