Rodriguez has issues with Big Ten officials too

Charlie Weis isn't the only one down on Big Ten officials.

Michigan's Rich Rodriguez said he was evaluating film from Saturday's game.

"We watched the game," he said. "There are several calls that we’ll send in … that I think from our biased standpoint we think maybe the call cold have been a little different.

"If you look at the overall course of the game the officials do the best job they can. There’s always going to be a handful the other team wishes went their way and so do we."

Here it is.  Replay call was right, running back was out of bounds.  Now Charlie Weis can stop saying he doesn't know if the player was out of bounds, the proof is here.  Weis should stop trying to smokescreen himself from the wrath of angry ND fans after he botched the game with inept playcalling/game management and inept execution.  Instead of throwing the refs under the bus he should be a man, stand up and apologize to the refs.  Take the heat instead of loking for an out and blaming others.

ND fans, sorry you are stuck with that guy.  Better coaching game management, and better execution, and Michigan would not have had the chance to get back in the game.  I'm sure some will stay in denial about the call in order to ease the pain, but Charlie and company just need to look in the mirror.

Yes, imagine college football without Notre Dame. While you're at it, imagine no college football.

This is funny coming from whiny Michigan fans who wah, wah, wah after every game and never think another team truly beats them. Last year it wasn't that ND forced the 6 turnovers it was that Michigan players handed them the game from all of you fans. I said in my original post that my intent wasn't to take anything away from the effort of the Michigan players. They were getting by with the PI all day by holding the inside arm so I don't blame them for continuing to utilize it the rest of the day the way there getting getting brutalized by Floyd and Tate.

My point is that poor officiating ruined what was a great game. Both of these teams played well and I agree that ND had many chances to win inspite of the officiating. I do disagree with the Armando Allen penalty for taunting as if the officials were to be consistent they should have flagged Michigan for excessive celebration on both Stonum's  KO return for TD and the game-winning TD.

Blatant holds?? We got called for a lot of holding calls. Let me guess Michigan didn't hold anybody either? You can't look at the pics of Donovan Warren interfering with Tate on that final series and not in all honesty tell me that shouldn't have been called and that it didn't alter the outcome of the game.

My concern is that the officials marred an excellent ball game. Michigan played a hell of a game and both teams showed on the field that they are alot better than any analyst, talking head or rival fan wants to admit.

Here are my thoughts:

I don't want to hear one word from any Notre Dame fan about the refs contributing to this loss.  Are you kidding me?  On almost every play there was a blantant mugging of Michigan's defensive line in the form of an arm wrapped around a Michigan guy's neck or grabbing of the jersey.  Sure, the ND line was much bigger and stronger, but the lack of pressure on the QB was half the result of the constant holding of the smaller/faster Mich D-line.  The one at the end of the game that had the whole Michigan bench on the field screaming was just one of more than a dozen similar.  Does the game change is there was a pass interference called on Warren in the 4th quarter, yes.  It also changes if ND gets called for half the blatant holds and Clausen doesn't have all day to pass the whole game.  Yes, ND got called for plenty of penalties including holding.  Both teams were heavily penalized in the game and there were no calls for minor unsportsmanlike pushing, etc. after plays on both sides of the ball.  You're stretching to attribute the loss to the zebras.

ND probably holds on to win if they don't get called for unsportsmanlike taunting after their final score.  Self inflicted and stupid if you ask me.  Did you see Matthews of Michigan do anything other than hand the ball to the official after his score late?  Take away all the self inflicted penalties in the game and ND wins no problem.  Focus on that, not excuses.  As Charlie Weis said - ND could have won, but doesn't mean they should have won.  Need better execution and less self inflicted penalties.

ND has a good offense, but when they go up against USC and the attempts to hold can't even keep the defense off Clausen, you're going to see something different than in this game - a blowout.  You better beat MSU this weekend or you can kiss Charlie Weis goodbye because you're going to take a serious whipping by USC.  Let me know if it's the refs fault after that one.

Hey "thelionsstink" - wow another salty Ohio person....what a shock!  you have so much to be proud of there.  why would any official want to give UM an advantage?  what's the payoff for them?  I love how you pick the only pro team in michigan that sucks.  How about the pistons, red wings, tigers who are all consistent winners and have multiple world championships over the past 20 or so years....I think I am going to change my screen name to theBrownsCavsIndiansBlueJacketsBeng  you guys are starved for any type of championship there and the only somewhat good team in sports is the OSU football team who keeps choking in big games....salty, bitter ohio punks.

Well things are back to normal in college football.  College officials are blindly favoring Michigan, and Michigan fans don't see it.  Michigan gets more breaks from referees than any other college team out there.  It has to be hard for ND to have referees contribute to a loss, because it almost never happens.  ND is accustomed to having help from the refs also, and since things worked against them this time they don't know what to do. Michigan isn't that great and they will have quite a few losses in the big ten this year.  Michigan sucks!

probably another crying OSU fan you are.....your dislike for both teams makes it obvious.  why would you even be on this blog?  OSU yet another CHOKE of a big game against a Freshman QB in his first away game of career - lots to be proud of there.  mark my words - YOU WILL BE EATING your words about Rodriguez.  He is a good coach.  He's only proved it at every college he has coached climbing up the ranks to a Big Time School like Michigan.  He now has accessibility to recruiting talent on a National level at UM.  The D Coordinator he stole will payoff too!  Wait and see the skill and speed that he brings to UM.  I was bored with Lloyd Carr's predictable offense schemes and inability to develop the talent he brought in....Run, Run, Pass - Run, Run, Pass - It was time to get with the 21st century college football schemes....

Stop whining, Zach! It was NOT pass interference on that play. Warren made a great play on the BALL. The ND players were talking the entire game. Tate should have gotten an unsportsmanlike for putting the ball out behind him 4 yards from the end zone. We could each go on and on. Refs make mistakes all the time. The bottom line is Michigan won and ND lost. Charlie is not the answer. ND is in a lot of trouble. Go Blue!

The game was in the big house. The home team always gets the benefit of homer calls. Deal with it. It all comes down to play calling and clock management. Michigan did a better job of both. You need to look to your coach for this loss. Oh, and the replay officials get to see more angle of the play than they show on TV. They may very well have had conclusive evidence to over turn the TD call.
