Shocking news from Baylor

Posted on: September 27, 2009 6:36 pm

What a shame. Baylor just announced that quarterback Robert Griffin III is out for the season.

Griffin has what the school called "an isolated tear" of the ACL in his right knee. The injury occurred the first quarter of Saturday's win over Northwestern State. This has the potential to wreck Baylor's plans for a bowl.

The school with a 15-year bowless streak is now in danger of making it 16. The Bears gave one back on Sept. 19, losing at home to UConn. At 2-1, Baylor must now find four more victories in a schedule that includes Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.

Griffin was seen as the next big thing in the quarterback-laden Big 12. A big, big shame. No word on if the school is able to seek a redshirt season.

Shocking news from Baylor

I feel badly for Baylor & Griffin, however, the Bears lost at home to UConn WITH a HEALTHY R. Griffin.  The upcoming schedule is as brutal as could be imagined....OU, Texas, Nebraska, better than expected TT & Mizzou plus Okie State & an improved A&M.  Simply can't find 4 more wins, especially with the back up QB having a bruised shoulder, losing a starter on D & a starting RB not at 100%.

Wait til next year BB!

Shocking news from Baylor

Sorry to hear about Griffin.  As a fan of a school that lost its star QB the week before to an ACL tear, I know how devestating the loss can be.  But don't give up hope Baylor fans.  Our backup quarterback, a redshirt freshman, came in on Saturday, and in his first college start led us (University of South Florida) to perhaps the biggest win in school history.

Shocking news from Baylor

To all the people that are saying how Dodd gives only a few lines to Griffin's injury, news flash, He's Dennis Dodd!
He's notorious on this board for writing bias and less than average articles. But whatever, it's a free country and he's allowed to expressed his opinion just like I'm allow to express mine and say "I wish this was college basketball season because Gary Parrish writes much better articles!"

Shocking news from Baylor

I feel exactly the same, Baylor never gets any attention or respect. News flash... Tebows out, but Florida's still gonna win most of their games, and chances are that he's not even gonna miss a game! Robert Griffin means the world to Baylor!!! Thank goodness we've got decent backups, but this good really hurt our chances, id really like some media attention and to stop being the losers in the big 12!!! Griffin had the potential to make that happen, and you d@$% media people to give a rip about it! THX A BUNCH!!!

Shocking news from Baylor

I like your comment it was exactly as I feel.  While I hate to see Tebow or Bradford injured I hate that ANY young man gets hurt if he plays for OU, FL or even Baylor or N.Texas or Duke  never want to see a player hurt. But I know this is part of the game that will always be but it still sucks no matter who you cheer for!

What a shame? Are you kidding me?

Tebow gets a concussion while battling an unspecified respiratory condition and you write about it continuously, even though he problably won't even miss a game. This kid tears an ACL, plays almost a full half of football on it, is out for the season, and it gets 8 lines. You media whores really nauseate me. But thanks for validating that you don't really give a damn about the kids getting injured, just the traffic they can generate for your site.

Shocking news from Baylor

Its true. I dont really care too much about Baylor in general, but its really too bad for the Bears. It would have been neat to see him take them to a bowl. Its a real shame.

Shocking news from Baylor

Sorry for the news Baylor fans.  I had just begun following Baylor mostly because I am a huge Norwood fan and I think he going to be a great defensive coordinator at Baylor.  (Even though you stole him from my Lions).  I wish you luck and hope you make it to a bowl.

Shocking news from Baylor

This is truly an unfortunate turn of events, and not just for Baylor.  Griffin is one of the most exciting players in CF, and we will not see him again until next season.  The Big12 has lost another exciting star qb to early season injury.  Other coaches on Baylor's schedule are probably breathing easier today, but we all poorer for Griffin's loss.  Here's to a quick and complete recovery for the young man.
