Bad news for Iowa

Posted on: October 27, 2009 1:41 pm

Kirk Ferentz just announced that freshman tailback Adam Robinson and guard Dace Richardson are out for the season. That's crushing news for a team that is chasing a Big Ten title. Robinson and Richardson had been key contributors for the offensively-challenged Hawkeyes.

That puts Iowa on the clock. Even though it plays Indiana and Northwestern the next two weeks, nothing is certain. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawkeyes lose the next two. They have such a small margin of error, these injuries could be crippling.

Bad news for Iowa

Now that Iowa has lost, are you happy. With the incredible effort this season by those who, according to the experts, are lacking in skill...18, 19, 20 and 21 year old athletes, are now 9 and 1. Are you finally satisfied...is the the Universe right for you now? Do you look smart now?
Good luck with the rest of your career.
See you in the Rose Bowl!

Bad news for Iowa

First things first...

That's what he said, "He wouldnt be surprised if Iowa lost their next two".

Secondly....

DODD....

"Puff....Puff.....PASS.....&qu
ot;  Quit screwing up the rotation....you MORE...ON...

Honestly, I do not read your articles for an insight about what might be going on, I read it to see how much more stupid you can possibly get....

I am ALL ABOUT the love for the Hawkeyes..but I could be honest and reasonable enough to think we would lose to Penn State, Wisconsin on the road, Mich. State was no gimme, Ohio State a loss...maybe even the early season game against Arizona.

I figured 8 and 4...and that we would have a much better running game than we do...a defense not quite as good..but a consistently sound team.

I never dreamed of an 8 and 0 start..but right now...I'm not conceding any game here on out.  This team is special.

Anyone remember a quote by Gene Hackman in "The Replacement's"?  At half time, he was asked what it would take to get his team back in the game, "Heart, it'll take alot of Heart"  I know it's a movie quote, but really, this team has HEART...and from within, you can do things sometimes you aren't normally capable of...you fight, and fight and fight...and when you both are tired, you get lucky...

Screw Dodd, and Palmer and all of these other overpaid worthless analysts that drink SEC, Big 12 South, and USC bath water.  Iowa, Cincinnati, TCU are equally as sound as Florida, Alabama and Texas...

Style points don't count...at the end of the year, it's all about W...L .....12 and 0 is better than 11 and 1 which is better than 10 and 2...and when you play, who is on your schedule, and win, you should get credit...no matter the score.

You can play the stupid if buts where nuts we'd all be a flippin' squirrel or whatever corny comment you can think of game...but a win is a win is a win is a win...

Is Nebraska better than Iowa State...not last Saturday they weren't...and that's all that counts in that ONE game...not this crap that..well Iowa State beat Nebraska, and Iowa beat Iowa State, so THEREFORE, IOWA MUST BE BETTER THAN NEBRASKA crap....well NO, you can't say that...play them, and then find out...

Well if Boise State were to play Oregon NOW...the outcome would be different...maybe so..but the FACT is, they played, Boise State won, enough said...

So, in conclusion DODD, I don't care what you write, or how you write, tomorrow when I wake up, Iowa is 8 and 0, one of a handful of unbeaten teams in the country, and I'm ok with that.  I'm not playing games with some stupid writers opinion.  Florida has a 17 game win streak, Iowa is at 12, that are the 2 longest streaks in the country and I'm ok with being that good.

Bad news for Iowa

There's no such thing as crushing news to anyone on this team, especially when it comes to Wehgar Robertsons replacement. It's sure going to be fun watching this kid on Saturday now that he knows that all the weight is going to be on his shoulders. Watch out Indiana here he comes.

Bad news for Iowa

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawkeyes lose the next two. After reading the comments I read through the blog post again to see where exactly Dodd said Iowa would lose their next 2.   I still can't seem to find it.  Could you please point it out to me?  All I see is that quote above where Dodd said he wouldn't be surprised if by some chance that happened.  Guess my reading skills aren't very good.

Bad news for Iowa

....one other thing....

Even if Iowa goes 2-2 the rest of the regular season, I don't know how Ferentz doesn't get Coach of the Year.

Bad news for Iowa

If Iowa loses either game the next two weeks it'll be based on either how thin the teams depth chart is or that the Big 10 really is that weak.  If Iowa wins the next two weeks, it'll be more 'miracle' talk or that the Big 10 is really weak.

I'm expecting (and hoping) that Stanzi steps up and starts throwing for 250-300 yards for the rest of the season.  We are deep at passing options.  Moeaki, DJK, Stross, McNutt, Reiser and ANOTHER freshman Davis.  McNutt was the fourth option on the last second touchdown and he probably has the most pro potential at 6' 4", great hands and a knack for getting open.  Don't forget that Chaney went down too and that Sandeman still doesn't know where he is at after the helmet to helmet hit he took.

I also remember 4 years ago when Iowa lost FOUR RUNNING BACKS and had to rely on Tate to throw like crazy.  I could swear that somehow we beat LSU and Russell that bowl year.  Oh wait, that was a miracle too.  LOL.

Dodd please just GO AWAY!!!

Nice call Dodd...as usual.  Big surprise bashing the Big Ten conference.  Something new.  Just because Missouri blows and gets routed at home last week, please don't take it out on Iowa and the Big Ten.  If you really think that Iowa will lose the next two, why don't you put your money where mouth is (or your lousy commentary for that matter).  I will give you 10 to 1 odds and bet any amount of money you wish that Iowa DOES NOT lose their next two games (Indiana, Northwestern) at home.  Why do you continue your bashing of the Big Ten?!?  Even when you pretend to praise Iowa you use sarcasm (case in point, your sad rusty parts artice, GIMME A BREAK!!!).  Even when Michigan State made its run through the NCAA Basketball tourney last year, all you could do was bash them by saying they did not desrve to be there in the first place.  You really went out on a limb with your great prophecy of North Carolina being the superior team and praised them like no other in your final article.  Sad really...

No doubt Robinson and Richardson will be missed.  But as usual you fail to mention that Iowa won without Richardson, and Robinson had been gimpy all game, even before he was done.  All Hawks fans will agree I feel that Wegher will be the long term feature back and is much more explosive.  I think he will be fine with a full week of practice without sharing reps.  Its ok though.  Non beleivers like you is what give good ol' midwesterners the motivation to prove people wrong, so keep it up!

GO HAWKS, HAIL BIG TEN!!!

Best conference, best schools, best network (BY FAR!!!) PERIOD!!!

Bad news for Iowa

Bad news for Iowa
It is bad news.  No young player likes to get injured and miss the opportunity to help out.  Winning is fun for the team and the fans.
It is bad news.  But I believe this team is special.  I have watched the last two minutes of the Michigan St. game several times and I am not going to get on a "poor Iowa" bandwagon.  Actually a few adversities might lead to better focus and less reading of press clippings.  Listen: this team has beaten Arizona, Iowa St. at Ames, Penn St, Wisconsin, and Michigan St. all on the road.  This team has won TWELVE games in a row going back to last season.  It is bad news.  But so what?  I'm going to enjoy this ride as long as it lasts.  As the blanket of winter threatens to fall upon the Iowa countryside this is a beautiful diversion.  It is bad news.  But the closing of Electrolux or getting bad news at the doctor is worse.  It is bad news.  But this team is a source of good news that never ceases to make a fan smile.
