Brian Kelly addresses Notre Dame connection

It wasn't much but Cincinnati's Brian Kelly spoke about the swirling rumors that he is headed to Notre Dame sooner rather than later.

"As far as the rumors go, our kids don't pay much at because I don’t," Kelly said on Monday's Big East conference call. "We’re humble that our names would be associated with programs. Our kids have become immune to it."

A lot of you probably noticed that Kelly didn't say the words: "I'm not going to Notre Dame." Of course, what does that mean when Nick Saban said the same thing about Alabama?

Brian Kelly addresses Notre Dame connection

Brian Kelly right now is a god in Cincinnati, they have just raised in 8 months 13 million dollars to upgrade the practice facilities.  They will follow that up with upgrading the Stadium.  Southwest Ohio is a hotbed for football talent, Why leave?  Your going to a program if it doesnt work you will be banished to witness protection program with Bob Davie, Ty Willingham, Charlie Weis, and Gerry Faust.  Stay at Cincinnati and finish the Job.

There is now ay Weis has an 18 million dollar buyout.  Notre Dame is much too smart not to protect itself from that type of a commitment.

No, the man is obnoxiously large, in all senses of the word. He should resign at the end of this season after openly declaring he needs to devote more time to his health, and less time to losing. And IF that's the case, then all will be forgiven.

Until then, he's fair game for the fat jokes. Besides, it's impossible to not throw one his way- you can't miss.

The funny thing about all the talk Kelly to Notre Lame is alot of the ND fans saying if Kelly goes undefeated at UC he still may not get a title shot.  On the other hand going undefeated at ND gets a title shot no doubt.  What makes any of you fans think ND has any shot at going undefeated or just losing one game.  This was the year to turn it around remember? Cries of 10-2 and 11-1.  They have won 10 games maybe twice in the last fifteen years and haven't consistently put together anything since the early 1990's.  ND has they Yankees thing going... we can pay you more money we can pay you more money cmon we can pay you more money.  Money is really the only reason to go there at this point!  Have fun in the Hawaii Bowl Lamers.

You think Charlie would enjoy the fat jokes.  Keeps the attention off of the fact that he sucks as a head coach.  I'm sure you're dislike of fat jokes will make people stop...

It is time to realize that coaching has nothing to do with the situation at Notre Dame. Tradition does not matter as much in college football as it did back in ND's good times. Nowadays you don't go to Notre Dame because it is Notre Dame. Little Johnny doo-wop does not grow up now hoping to play for the Fighting Irish one day like he did in the 50s. He wants to play for whoever can get him a national championship ring, or forget that, an NFL spot. They also are in the same region as the rest of the Big Ten schools, and they have the same problem that they have. Fisher DeBerry was right and so was Joe Paterno when he made his comments about speed. It is true whether we like it or not. What little speed exists in the Great Lakes region is fought over by like 12 schools, and consequently none of them get a blessing of speedy players. This has been showing up when they play non-conference games against SEC and ACC opponents. Notre Dame just needs to keep the coach that they have because they aren't going to do any better, and they also need to consider the idea that maybe their time has passed.

Wow you really are an ignorant fool.  Saban "earned" his reputation and if someone else comes along offering him more money, kiss him goodbye.  It has nothing to do with his ability to coach, win-loss record, etc. and everything to do with the man's lack of integrity/greed.  Get over it and get used to it.  Like I said, he "earned" that reputation.  Seeing that this article addresses similar concerns about another coach I think it was relevant enough even though Dodd also is a moron.

As far as Cincinnati being better off for having them there... This is true, but if UC doesn't get stability out of him then they are headed right back to the middle/bottom of the Big Least.  Cincinnati would be better off actually keeping one of their coaches.  Guys like Dantonio and Kelly don't grow on trees and UC might not be so lucky with their next hire.  Too bad money is the only thing that talks in this world.  Then again I could be wrong and UC might just be another Rutgers/USF and fall off anyway.  The Big East deserves a little loyalty.  C'mon man!

Would people just stop with Notre Dame.  They should be on the verge of irrelevant if it was not for a storied past..  They need to give a coach some time.  Every 3 years changing is what is killing them.  Arrogant a-holes in South Bend.  No offense to the students and fans.  In there last 10 Bowl appearances they have only won 1.  So many other great programs for Kelly to go to later to elevate his paycheck and chance at a title.
