Texas survives; Colt thrives

Zac Lee is no Jerrod Johnson.

At least Texas has eight days to correct what was a train wreck of a defensive performance against Texas A&M. The 39 points given up to A&M tied for the most in two years. Johnson, A&M’s quarterback, had more than 400 yards in total offense.

Lee, Nebraska’s quarterback will be the next challenge for the Longhorns who were pushed Thursday night. The Big 12 championship game should be a lot easier. As good as Nebraska’s defense is, just like with A&M it doesn’t match up athletically with Texas.

There’s too much speed, too much brawn, too much Colt. Colt McCoy, for the first time this season, revealed himself as a running threat. His Heisman candidacy took a giant leap with almost 500 yards in total offense and five touchdowns.

Take a look at the Baylor Bears 2006 Quarterback. Much better than Stephen McGee from A & M>

Short week, rivalry game plus home field advantage for A&M equaled to a tough close game.
I think it would have been a different game had UT and A&M had a full week to prepare.
I rarely saw UT out of their base defense.

Great game!

Good luck to Horns the rest of the way. Enjoy it while you can.
I'm looking forward to 2010. Texas loses Colt and Shipley and a slew of others.
And the Aggies bring the SAME team with another year of experience.

Everyone in the BIG 12 got a peak of that last night and will circle their games against the Ags.

Gig 'Em.

You forgot one major fact in your analysis.  Texas A&M is a major rivarily game and thus has very high emotion attached to the game.  Rivarily games are ALWAYS more difficult than the objective analysis of the talent on the field would suggest.  So I wouldn't look at the A&M performance as some indication of how Texas will perform against Nebraska on a neutral field.

When you say Nub doesn't have to put up 39 to win the game, did you mean points or yards? Because with Zac Lee at the helm, they'll be lucky if they get either one.

Neutral field means Nebraska is toast

Anything can happen, remember Texas upset of Nebraska in first Big 12 championship game. Don't read too much into Aggie game, a rival game in a very hostile environment and a memorable performance by freshman quarterback. None of those will help Nebraska. I predict blowout and defensive clampdown.

Idiotic comment... if you only saw some of the things they do at UT you not make your comments. Make sure when you call folks stupid, you actually don't make an ass out of yourself by making the comment to begin with.

bobcatdave, the point of my post was to illustrate how you can't say one team is legitimately better than the other based on the way they performed throughout the year.  If you read the second paragraph, I specifically state that point.  The only way to tell who is better is by having the two teams play, plain and simple.  Call me ridiculous if you want, but realize that unless you actually pay attention to what's being said, you're the one that ends up looking ridiculous.  I for one am looking forward to playing A&M over the next 2 years, their fans are some of my favorite in the nation, and for the most part they usually put a great product out on the field.

Hey Bobcat Dave,

You are not doing your school any favors by responding in such a way, in fact, most folks would read what you wrote and think that you personify the A&M alumni.  Don't tell anonymous people to STFU or call them retard, it resemebles Oklahoma and Texas Tech fans and is completely classless.  Count to ten.  Take a deep breath.  You need to realize that it is not necessary to CAPITALIZE something if you want to accent it.

The truth is, every student body and alumni have bad apples.  And, if you continue to act this way, you will be one of them too.

Auburn beats Alabama, but comes back to beat Florida in the SEC championship, and then we have Texas TCU national championship! Hook'em Horned Frogs!
