BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Posted on: December 6, 2009 8:35 am

If form holds – and that means Texas finishing No. 2 in the BCS – this is how the BCS bowls will shake out tonight …

BCS title game – Texas vs. Alabama
Comment:  Got to think Bama will be almost a prohibitive favorite but Texas wasn’t supposed to beat USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl either.

Fiesta Bowl – TCU vs. Boise State
Comment: Fiesta is always thinking out of the box. It becomes the first BCS bowl to match two undefeated non-BCS schools. Should be a ratings winner.

Orange Bowl – Iowa vs. Georgia Tech
Comment:  Pasty Iowans will overrun South Florida and come away schooled in the ways of the option offense.

Sugar – Florida vs. Cincinnati
Comment: Alabama didn’t want to be here last year. Will Florida coming off an SEC title game loss? Also, who coaches the Bearcats with Brian Kelly headed to Notre Dame?

Rose – Oregon vs. Ohio State*
Comment:  Might be the best game of the bunch. Chip Kelly’s wide open Quack Attack against Ohio State’s old-style defense.

*--locked in

Here is my final regular-season top five. You can see the entire top 25 later Sunday:
2. TCU
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Florida

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

In what way would a TCU/Boise matchup be a ratings winner?  I promise you if that is the matchup, that is the lowest rated BCS bowl this year.  Guarantee.  The nation doesn't want to see it and the state of Idaho won't make up for the rest of the nation flipping the channel that night.  TCU has an insignificant fan base.

Also, Dodd calling Iowans pasty??  Have you looked in the mirror lately?  Maybe next time take down the picture of your ghastly white ever expanding forehead next time you make a comment like that.

I don't see the appeal in that Fiesta Bowl matchup.  Aren't people more interested in seeing how these teams stack up against the BCS schools.  Your Fiesta Bowl pairing has about the same appeal as the Hawaii Bowl.

Give me TCU/Florida instead.

I wish the bowl people would put Boise State with an LSU, Florida, or someone from a major conference.  If they win, move them up, if they lose, keep them out of the top 10, period.

IF the BCS pairs TCU with BOISE STATE!!!

The BCS will win this entire year over if it pairs Boise St. to TCU, how will a win from either fuel any more talk of playoff?  It's a perfect situation for the BCS as it shuts everyone up about BCS bowls and Non-BCS teams, and there is no chance that a Non-BCS team beats a BCS school in a major bowl!  Who in the hell cares about seeing two teams play that are not with the BCS??...We want to be able to judge the quality by seeing them play some big names!  Let's see the BCS have the chugs to place Georgia Tech against TCU and Iowa against Boise!  If those two BCS teams get hammered, then we are talking serious smack all through next year as well.  All a TCU - Boise St. Fiesta Bowl will be is a glorified Non-BCS game with bigger money, and it won't prove a damn thing.

What is it that you people need to validate Boise State as a top 5 team? Cincinnati squeaked by Fresno State at Cincy yet Boise State blew them out at Fresno. Cincy beats Oregon State and that is a quality win but Boise State beats #7Oregon the only time this season Oregon had every player on their team healthy and that doesn't count? Boise State beats LA Tech at Ruston by 17 and that is considered a poor performance but LSU struggle to beat them at LSU and that shows how good teams find a way to win. Boise State and TCU could play with anybody this year. Show some nerve and match those 2 schools with BCS powerhouses in the bowls and see what happens.

I'm not convinced Penn State doesn't get the Big 10 BCS bid over Iowa. They're eligible, bring in huge revenue, have the coach to make a story out of, and Iowa looked bad down the stretch, is their QB even healthy now or will he be?
