BCS bowl lineup and my top five

If form holds – and that means Texas finishing No. 2 in the BCS – this is how the BCS bowls will shake out tonight …

BCS title game – Texas vs. Alabama
Comment:  Got to think Bama will be almost a prohibitive favorite but Texas wasn’t supposed to beat USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl either.

Fiesta Bowl – TCU vs. Boise State
Comment: Fiesta is always thinking out of the box. It becomes the first BCS bowl to match two undefeated non-BCS schools. Should be a ratings winner.

Orange Bowl – Iowa vs. Georgia Tech
Comment:  Pasty Iowans will overrun South Florida and come away schooled in the ways of the option offense.

Sugar – Florida vs. Cincinnati
Comment: Alabama didn’t want to be here last year. Will Florida coming off an SEC title game loss? Also, who coaches the Bearcats with Brian Kelly headed to Notre Dame?

Rose – Oregon vs. Ohio State*
Comment:  Might be the best game of the bunch. Chip Kelly’s wide open Quack Attack against Ohio State’s old-style defense.

*--locked in

Here is my final regular-season top five. You can see the entire top 25 later Sunday:
1.Alabama
2. TCU
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Florida

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

If TCU gets downgraded compared to the Bamas and Longhorns of the world, why does it surprise Boise State fans that the Broncos don't get any love? If the Horned Frogs' schedule that included a victory over Clemson on the Tigers' home field and easy conference victories over BYU and Utah doesn't make the necessary waves, then Boise State's schedule that included only one high-quality win (over Oregon in the season opener) can't be expected to catch anyone's attention. Boise State won't get any love until it gets out of the WAC, because victories against Fresno State and Nevada never will account for much. But, like anyone else, I would HATE to see a Boise State vs. TCU matchup in the Fiesta. First, it's a repeat of their meeting last season in a bowl game. Second, it doesn't give either program a chance to make a name for itself by knocking off a Florida, Georgia Tech or whoever the Big Ten gets tossed into the mix. Putting these teams against each other in the BCS is a little like putting all the unwanted visitors at the frat get-together in "Animal House" in the same room away from all the "really cool people." The Broncos then could just change their nickname to the Flounders.

Iowa is going to the Orange Bowl to face Georgia Tech.  That is official word, not a guess.  TCU vs Boise in the nobody cares bowl, I mean Fiesta.  Wow, dumb move by Fiesta.  A lot of Iowa fans are going to be scrambling to sell tickets to the 4500 faithful TCU fans travelling to Phoenix.

top 5 teams are alabama, texas, florida, then who cares. tell those mid majors to schedule some games on the road against teams with prestige. win some of those than talk to me about being a great team. not excited to see games this year. to many teams schedule patty games and get to much credit. you cant tell me that idaho has a better coaching staff and level of talent as oklahoma or usc. see how many all americans come out of boise st, cincy, and tcu vs florida, usc, oklahoma. i hate all of them being a n.d fan but lets see this big picture outside the box

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Looked bad down the stretch, maybe, but Penn State was overmatched in its key games this year, and when you say looking bad, in the same time frame that Iowa was supposed looking bad Ohio State went into Happy Valley and leveled the Lions, then the Next week Iowa played at Ohio State and played to overtime, so I would say the Lions were not that good either, but hey they did score alot of points on a beat up Mich State team, and Indiana.....Penn State may get the nod but they do not deserve it

BSU and TCU playing each other again in bowl... not good thing to do, tcu and boise state should play a BCS confernce and prove them worthy teams from non BCS conference. Both are NON BCS and play each other...
Think about it...

PLEASE NO!!! not TCU vs BSU!!!

Oh man, what looked like a great season for the non-BCS to get to prove themselves against the BCS is going to fall flat at the end.
The BCS conferences are SOOOOO AFRAID of letting the non-BCS prove it on the field, they won't schedule many games against the BCS, and then this year, they will just send them off to the Fiesta and say "It's not REAL BCS bowl, just a sorta junior version of the BCS".
OH, man, this is the worst possible outcome for the Non-BCS teams.  What a bummer that the system is so protective of itself and soooo determined to NOT let there be any evidence of how corrupt the system is.
I guess it's not surprising ... they can pay off the Fiesta Bowl to "take one for the team" in order to protect the monopoly and the money the monopoly makes them over the long run!
This just stinks!!

Hey stmoose52,  that was a great prediction you had about the hawkeyes losing to the gophers.  You know so much about college football to come so close on your IOWA/MINN prediction, please give us all more of your wisdom!  (stmoose52 predicted the hawkeyes would lose 56-0)    No matter who Iowa plays, they will make a game of it and I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them win.  Iowa deserves to go to a BCS bowl over Penn State because they played a tougher schedule and they beat them outright at Penn State.

And the PSU fans talking about how Penn State would bring more fans to Miami than Iowa would.....in Jan. 2003 when Iowa played USC in the orange bowl, Iowa brought over 50,000 fans down there.  I'm not saying that Penn State doesn't travel well, but you can't make your argument that PSU would bring more fans than Iowa would because the truth is, they wouldn't.

Several reports coming out of the East Coast indicating Penn St has been selected for the Capital One Bowl...
