BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Posted on: December 6, 2009 8:35 am

If form holds – and that means Texas finishing No. 2 in the BCS – this is how the BCS bowls will shake out tonight …

BCS title game – Texas vs. Alabama
Comment:  Got to think Bama will be almost a prohibitive favorite but Texas wasn’t supposed to beat USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl either.

Fiesta Bowl – TCU vs. Boise State
Comment: Fiesta is always thinking out of the box. It becomes the first BCS bowl to match two undefeated non-BCS schools. Should be a ratings winner.

Orange Bowl – Iowa vs. Georgia Tech
Comment:  Pasty Iowans will overrun South Florida and come away schooled in the ways of the option offense.

Sugar – Florida vs. Cincinnati
Comment: Alabama didn’t want to be here last year. Will Florida coming off an SEC title game loss? Also, who coaches the Bearcats with Brian Kelly headed to Notre Dame?

Rose – Oregon vs. Ohio State*
Comment:  Might be the best game of the bunch. Chip Kelly’s wide open Quack Attack against Ohio State’s old-style defense.

*--locked in

Here is my final regular-season top five. You can see the entire top 25 later Sunday:
1.Alabama
2. TCU
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Florida

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Who wants to see a TCU and BSU play again. Not me.  Seen it last year.  Time in and time out the BCS teams say these guys need to play a better schedule, a schedule more like theirs, but then no one will schedule them on there out of conferance games because they want their gaurentee game and guarenteed wins.  Looks to me like they think if they dont give them the oppurtunity they can't prove themselves and BCS can keep using their same excuses.  These teams have to win out of there conference games to get this oppurtunity, then they think putting us up against each other is fair.  F#$@ Than BS.  SAD SAD DAY

Listen Polo Assn., obviously you really don't follow football.  Last year BSU played TCU in the Pointsettia Bowl, BSU dominated in first half then TCU came back to win by one in final minutes of game.  BSU Pretty much has the same team as last year other than a few seniors  left and an improved offense this year.  not really disagreeing with you that the match up isnt a exciting one and not saying BSU could win this year either, no one knows, but dont shell out some bullsh# your not familiar with.

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

I don't know why you people waste your time on this sham.  College football is the equivalent of figure skating.  The "scoring" is completely subjective and the deck is stacked to make sure the same teams are at the same places every year.

Until the NCAA and other interested parties stop defending the status quo and their revenue streams, College football will never have any legitimacy.

Let TCU play Alabama.

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Will you squakeye fans just go away already. You can't even read. His line about Iowa is clearly written as PASTY. Pasty meaning white and not tan. Put away the feed bucket and go pick up a damn book. Just go away already, you're team is NOT BCS bowl worthy regardless of your record. Your almighty defense let Northern Iowa put up 16 and squaked away with a 1 point victory and then prayed your way through a 3 point victory over Arkansas State. I'm sure those teams are soooooooo much better than the "wussy acc". Almighty Indiana had you guys crapping your pants going into the 4th quarter and Northwestern controlled you the entire game.

If you guys face Georgia Tech they will run circles around your team. Your embarassment of an offense will get blown away. You had your time in the spot light and the nation payed attention to you for a few weeks while you squeaked out victories over pathetic teams and had a win streak going, but then you lost to Northwestern and Ohio State. Nobody cares anymore, nobody out of Iowa wants to see you guys play. You are a boring mediocre team and it would just be sad to watch Georgia Tech option you guys to death and a 31 point victory.

TCU VS. BOISE ST: THE WORST IDEA EVER

TCU vs. Boise St. is the worst idea ever. All year long we watch these teams play against nobodys and when Bowl season comes around I want to see how they would fare against a nationally ranked powerhouse, instead they play each other and we will still not know how good either of these teams really are. WORST IDEA EVER

I completely agree.  This is most ridiculous thing I've heard.  Besides, TCU and Boise played each other last year.  I think that would kill a lot of the excitement that people have about those two teams being in the BCS.

ND Coach

For you buffoons that like to insinuate and assume who is going where and based on your ignorance, I believe Stoops is staying at OU..I don't, however, believe that Saban OR Meyer will be at their respected colleges next year as one of these coaches will most likely go to ND...I'd rather see Miles out at LSU after the last couple games of a bluderence and sucky QB's...I love LSU b/c they are the best but am gonna put my money on Penn St to blow LSU away Jan 1st.

You seem to have this notion that "what happened on the field of play" determines who gets picked for BCS at-large bids. Sadly, you're wrong. What determines it is who brings in money for a bowl when it's their turn to pick. If a BCS bowl thinks Iowa will bring in more money, they'll pick Iowa. If they think Penn State will, they'll pick Penn State. It doesn't matter who beat who when it comes down to it, it's who brings in the dough and puts butts in the seats. And that may very well be Iowa, but it may very well be Penn State.

The BCS cares less so much about good match-ups as it does who brings in cash. A great match-up between teams that don't bring in cash is less alluring than a bad match-up between two cash cows.

In a few hours, we'll see who goes where. I won't be surprised to see Iowa, but I also won't be surprised if I see Penn State.

Kevin James.

Good grief...you certainly win the award for being the biggest malcontent on the planet...congratulations.  Why don't you give us your inspired version of who should be in the bowls and why.
