BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Posted on: December 6, 2009 8:35 am

If form holds – and that means Texas finishing No. 2 in the BCS – this is how the BCS bowls will shake out tonight …

BCS title game – Texas vs. Alabama
Comment:  Got to think Bama will be almost a prohibitive favorite but Texas wasn’t supposed to beat USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl either.

Fiesta Bowl – TCU vs. Boise State
Comment: Fiesta is always thinking out of the box. It becomes the first BCS bowl to match two undefeated non-BCS schools. Should be a ratings winner.

Orange Bowl – Iowa vs. Georgia Tech
Comment:  Pasty Iowans will overrun South Florida and come away schooled in the ways of the option offense.

Sugar – Florida vs. Cincinnati
Comment: Alabama didn’t want to be here last year. Will Florida coming off an SEC title game loss? Also, who coaches the Bearcats with Brian Kelly headed to Notre Dame?

Rose – Oregon vs. Ohio State*
Comment:  Might be the best game of the bunch. Chip Kelly’s wide open Quack Attack against Ohio State’s old-style defense.

*--locked in

Here is my final regular-season top five. You can see the entire top 25 later Sunday:
2. TCU
3. Texas
4. Cincinnati
5. Florida

Amen brother! Iowa is ONE naked bootleg play from being #4 and waiting for that Texas field goal to go wide left to play in the Championship game. I really really really hope Iowa would get Florida or Boise State. People look at scores, make assumptions and then disregard their own team's weaknesses.

You're probably right about the Fiesta Bowl pairing, but you've ignored the obvious reason for it:  The BCS cartel doesn't want another embarrassment by having two non-"Power conference" teams beat teams from the traditional conferences.  The best way to avoid that is to get them to play each other instead of giving them an opporftunity to prove that they're better than the teams who skate by on their conferences' reputations.

BCS bowl lineup and my top five

Politics as usual. All this proves is what everyone already knows. The BCS champ will predominantly either
come from the SEC or the Big 12.The outside contenders are Ohio State from the Big 10 and USC from the Pac 10.
Rose BowlThe fact is there are far more deserving teams, but as long as these politics are tolerated, we will never see them. The team that played the hardest schedule, and is ranked, was Oregon.Oregon is going to mop the floor with Ohio State, and the response will be, well Ohio State was in a "off year".
Sugar BowlI am going to laugh, uncontrollably, when Cincinnati beats the most over-rated team in the land.Hey Florida University, FU! I mean that in the most sincere way, FU!
Orange BowlThis game will flat out SUCK! I mean what does this game say?Lets pair our 2nd rate Big 10 team against the highest ranked ACC team.Did the ACC not suck this year? GT still had 1 loss in the conference. Iowa sucked as soon as their QB got hurt.Either of these teams would be destroyed by Oregon, TCU, Cincinnati, or Boise State.
Fiesta BowlThis was mentioned earlier. Pair TCU against Boise State makes the game forgettable. Neither of these team will get the opportunity to destroy one of these powder puff, protected, BCS teams.Yeah I said it - PROTECTED!
BCS Title GameThis is another one of those, "Who gives a damn?" games. And it's for the BCS title no less.Alabama is ranked #1, ok I'll buy that for a $1. Nick Saban is still a douche, but Bama's not bad.But where in the blue hell do you get Texas from?Who, who else from the Big 12 was good this year? THEY ALL SUCKED!Oklahoma SUCKED, Nebraska SUCKED, Texas Tech SUCKED, Missouri SUCKED, Oklahoma State SUCKED!How does Texas get in to the BCS Championship game? Oh there the highest rated team in the Big 12, let 'em in.
With these types of games I have but one suggestion, I ask only one thing. Can the BSC change its name? It's not really changing it per se, its more like just switching its letters around.Instead of the BSC (Bowl Championship Series), lets make it the BSC. The Bull S#*t Championship.

Penn State shouldn't go to a bowl based on their team mascot, JoPa. Iowa has owned them for 7 years, beat them by 10 at PSU. Iowa got beat at OSU in overtime with freshman QB starting his first game, whereas PSU got blown out at home against OSU. Iowa travels better than PSU. PSU alums call this a failed season.

Do you remember TCU beat Boise State last year while they were playing in San Diego by one point? Why you bring it up that TCU will play Boise State in Fiesta Bowl?  Do you forget about TCU beat Virginia and Clemson this year?  All of BSC Conference teams don't want to play aganist Boise State and TCU because it will hurt them next year team ranking . For example  SEC Conference are getting a lot of money more than any other BSC Conference this year. Only way BSC Conference team stop BSU and TCU going to other bowl is TCU and Boise State must play in Fiesta Bowl.  If that happens then it is very boring and old news because college sports fan will not turn on the TV on January 4th so next year there will be no more Mid Majors will play in BSC Bowl and no more playoff so that way keep BSC Conference happy because they will collect more money and power.

Penn State fans are hoping on a wing and prayer for a BCS bowl bid.  There is no logical reason for Penn State to go before Iowa...none.  Iowa has been better in bowls, they beat Penn State head-to-head, Iowa's fans travel just as well if not better, and Iowa had bigger wins this season and a much closer loss to Ohio State.

Great logic there homer. Iowa should get in because of what they did on the field but Boise is a bad choice because of their number of fans? Can't have it both ways.

patsy iowans are going to the fiesta

"PASTY," not "PATSY."...Dodd said "pasty."

He was referring to the fact that Iowa's fans have white, non-sundamaged skin.

Remember it is okay to take a shot at someone's skin color as long as the people you're referring to are white.
