Tuberville's first order of business

Texas Tech rebounded nicely. No, make that threw down a slam dunk with the hiring of Tommy Tuberville.

The decision put a Wild, Wild, West, yahoo (not the website) program back on the tracks. Apparently, there is someone out there in West Texas with a level head. Tuberville was, as they say, was the best athlete left on the draft board. National championship caliber, great recruiter, great coach.

Good to see it looks like he will keep some elements of Mike Leach’s offense. This is a coach who could recruit well enough to challenge Texas and Oklahoma now and then.

I’ve got his first order of business, though: Do not renew Adam James’ scholarship. It’s clean, it’s legal and there are no messy entanglements with Craig “The Helicopter” James. It’s clear the kid can’t play. Do what is usually done when players don’t progress or measure up.

Adam James is a redshirt sophomore who has caught 32 career passes. But it’s not even about the production. It’s about Texas Tech cleansing its soul and moving on. Leach was fired for his alleged mistreatment of James. That trumps everything else. I’m not going minimize the issue.

But Tuberville doesn’t need a cancer on the team.

Second thing I’d do: tear down that “shed”, “garage” or whatever you want to call it where Adam James was reportedly placed. If it stands, it will become a landmark where mom, dad and the kids will come to see on vacation. Not good.

Tubs can do without a whiny, daddy’s boy receiver who is lucky to have a scholarship in the first place. But Tuberville doesn’t have to say, or even think, any of that.

Just serve the kid notice, Tubs. No one can complain. You’re trying to build a program. Adam James doesn’t fit in.

Wasn't Adam already planning to transfer to SMU before the incident?

Tuberville's SECOND order of business

Second thing I’d do: tear down that “shed”, “garage” or whatever you want to call it where Adam James was reportedly placed. If it stands, it will become a landmark where mom, dad and the kids will come to see on vacation. Not good. hit the nail on the head here!
my kids weren't impressed at all!
next stop . . . the spot where they're going to erect the saban statue!
the kids can't hold still! : )

Agree with all, strangley enough. However, you are still letting off the TTU adminstration for pretty blatant misuse of thier power.

However, I still question Tuberville as teh coach. The entire team is set up for run and gun offense.....Tuberville is 2 dives and a screen or draw type coach.....

I guess we'll see....BUT if I wanted to get the program 'clean', he is a good one for that.....

Lets not forget, Tommy sort of got run out of Aub.....

Tuberville's first order of business

I totally agree, unlike the morons on this page who don't.  They need to get a life and go play somewhere else.  Tubs doesn't need any distractions, especially right now while recruiting.  Sever ties with anything to do with Leach and his staff, McNeil should go to.  I would sit my players down and let them know right now that I was the one in charge, ask if any had a problem with that, remove the ones that do and move on.  Surely he can find 2 or 3 star players to replace them.  Hope he does well.

Who made that statement? The white haired thug with socks pulled up to his knees? Celina is the biggest fraud in the state of Texas. They recruit and cheat. The whole town is nothing short of wannabee high schoolers. Every parent is just like Craig James.

The whole team is a clueless bunch. They should move up in class due to enrollment but always find ways around them. I don't know anyone who actually respects what is going on the town in regards to HS football.

Tuberville's first order of business

Tuberville will probably lose to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Other than those two teams, Tech's schedule for next year is weak.

Tuberville's first order of business

Hey dumbass, Tubs and Saban only coached in the state of Alabama for two years, before Tubs left.  I agree that Tubs basically let the recruiting aspect of the job go, but outrecruiting for to years, hardly does a career make.  I guess you are one the many that think he is now invincible and will NEVER leave UAT.  But for a douchebag like him, the grass is always greener.  And what is to keep him at UAT anyways, as he has already accomplished everything there is to do.

Tuberville's first order of business

I am wondering if Ruffin was even considered here?  Sadly, I think Tuberville will have a hard time at TTU?  Why? Because most all fans are still furious about the firing of our beloved coach Mike Leach.  I read somewhere and hope I see it again that maybe this deal with Tuberville may have been in the making even before Leach was fired. How can any of us be happy and think we are doing so great about acquiring a new coach when our coach was thrown under bus like he was? I don't trust what James or TTU said and I sure want to hear what Coach Leach has to say about what went on and what he knows.  I hate the good old boys club. It is evil and when you don't honor a contract and find sneaky ways to hurt a family (Leach) and take away their livelihood, you lose all respect. Who cares if TTU thinks they have a great coach?  That great coach replaces a fantastic coach and not even HIS contract was honored.  Don't they always say if buyer beware?  Still support Coach Leach. He has more fans than TTU can even imagine. They better have their story together of what really is going on in Lubbock, TX.

WOW...what insight!  You are an NCAA guru!  Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with all of us mortals that feel the absurd need to support our statements with something more than random garbage!
