Canesport.com is reporting that Miami offensive coordinator Mark Whipple is the leading candidate to become the new head coach at South Florida.

Skip Holtz was assumed to be the No. 1 guy a couple of days ago but Canesport.com reports that Whipple, Florida assistant Dan McCarney and Michigan assistant Calvin Magee have moved ahead. Magee interviewed on Tuesday.

Don't want Mr. "please don't squeeze the Charmin" Whipple.  Don't want Skip "my dad can't talk" Holtz.  USF NEEDS Fulmer.  Why is USF interviewing coordinators?  We need coaches with big game experience.  At least Whipple know about recruiting in Florida.

Good, I hope he goes.  He is the only positive thing going at Miami right  now.  If it weren't for him turning around the Miami offense then Randy Shannon would've been fired by now.  Mark Whipple is a good coach and as an FSU fan, go anywhere but leave Miami!

If it's true, this is good news for the Pirate Nation at ECU.
