Tennessee has seemingly moved on to Duke head coach David Cutcliffe as its favorite.

The Vols' former offensive coordinator (on two ocassions) could be the fallback candidate now that Will Muschamp and Troy Calhoun have dropped out of the running. Cutcliffe is 9-15 in two seasons at Duke. Five years ago he underwent triple bypass surgery. He has rebounded nicely making modest improvement at Duke.

Cutcliffe is 53-44 overall including a successful six-year stay at Ole Miss where he was 44-29. The Rebels tied for the SEC West title in 2003. From 1983-1992 Cutcliffe was a Tennessee assistant. From 1993-1998 he was Phil Fulmer's offensive coordinator before departing for Ole Miss.

Tennessee assistant Kippy Brown is still in the running along with a new name -- Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley. The son of Vince Dooley is 17-20 in three seasons in Ruston, La. He coached under Nick Saban at both LSU and the Dolphins.

Tennessee down to Cutcliffe?

Even though I'm a Buckeye, my uncle is a Vol alumni, so I have no hatred towards the school. I also really feel for the poor kids that got left in that a-hole Kiffen's wake. But there is certainly a certain sense of kharma coming back to haunt the Tennessee program after the way they treated Fulmer, and hired that carpet-bagger, loud-mouth idiot Kiffen in his place. Right now, if I were a Vol booster, I would be demanding that the moron AD who got this ball rolling down hill be canned yesterday!

Tennessee down to Cutcliffe?

Anyone else here think like I do that Tommy Tuberville is kicking himself in the ass for taking the Texas Tech job?
I mean who could've foreseen the events of this past week but if he had waited just a little longer he could've been in the running for the Vols job too.
Not that Tech is the equivalent to a 1AA or D2 program but it's certainly not Tennessee or the SEC either.
Thoughts.....anyone?
I also don't think the Vols are going back to Fulmer that would be like begging your ex wife to take you back after you booted her out of the house you'd have to quote a Seinfeld episode "No Hand".

4-5 have said no...Why can't you clowns see that!   Cutcliffe may not be the "best" hire but he's all that's left and they have never had a losing season with him in campus...

I dont think cutcliff would be a good hire. They need someone who will be around and doesnt have still have any ties with their DREAM JOB ! They should focus on getting chuckie.Leach will bring to much baggage. The vols need a no tolerence coach that is why they need  CHUCKIE ! HE WONT PUT UP WITH IT.

"Coached Up" Peyton? Are you kidding me? He was on auto-pilot from almost day one. Cut gets way more credit than he's due with Peyton & Eli. He inherited Peyton & was gift-wrapped Eli as he couldn't possibly follow his bro's footsteps at TN. Cut is a decent Off Coord but a big mistake if UT gives him the HC position. He's right where he needs to be at Duke with zero pressure. He may even turn down the job if offered for this reason.

Dude...they are down to Cutcliffe or Kippy...Cut has recruited and coached 2 super bowl winning qb's snd Kippy has NEVER been a head coach at any level.  Not my 1st choice either...but this late in the game its really their last and only option...

Hiring CUT is a huge mistake. The football program will never recover. Mike Hamilton should be fired. I will not support the football program if CUT is hired.
