Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White House
Got to give The Hatcher credit. If Obama doesn't invite Boise, he is painted as part of the vast left-wing BCS conspiracy.
That gives me an idea. Maybe the Boise wins the White House Trophy for aggrieved non-BCS programs. Some sculptor could put together some kind "huddled masses" trophy.
Hatch is a political animal. Obama's answer will be significant.

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseFor those who say BSU couldn't play the schedule of the bigger schools, who's to say that when given the same chance at the money that the BCS conferences receive from the BCS that BSU wouldn't do the same every year. BSU received less for playing in the Fiesta Bowl than TCU ($1.5 mil to be exact) because TCU was ranked as the higher non-BCS school, while both yet received less than Automatic conferences. And lets remember that while other schools in the BCS only have to split their winnings with teams in their conferences... BSU and TCU must slit theirs with teams from 5 conferences. With more money comes bigger stadiums and facilities and also more notoriety.... and may even steal all those top recruits from other schools. BSU takes average kids and turns them into champions. Congrats Coach Pete on another Bear Bryant Coach of the year award (the only coach to win this award twice). |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseAnd, to add to what I said something that applies to this column, I think Hatch is being an idiot. Don't take away from 'Bama what is rightfully theirs.

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseAnd no ... if BSU were an SEC team and had to play Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss week after week - you'd be an 8-4 team at best in a real conference
Prove it by LETTING US PLAY YOU! |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseIf Senator Hatch worked as hard getting health care for Americans as he does for getting rid of the BCS or inviting BSU to the White House, the health care debate would have been solved months ago. Senator Hatch, there is only one national champion and that is Alabama. Why do you want to take away their special day?

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseSure. Tell you what, Alabama should follow the lead of Boise State. Forget the SEC. We should play independent, and schedule the likes of Tulane, Central Florida, Middle Tennessee State, Arkansas State, Rice, Florida International, Western Kentucky, Chattanooga, UAB, maybe play Samford for homecoming .... go through that schedule, be undefeated every year, and crown ourselves champions of the world - because after all .... we're undefeated.
BSU fans - you lose a TON of credibility when you feign oblivion to how pathetically weak your schedule is year over year. There is a chasm of difference between an Alabama running the table from the SEC, and Boise running the table against your slate of cream puffs. And no ... if BSU were an SEC team and had to play Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss week after week - you'd be an 8-4 team at best in a real conference. |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseCall it what you will, and act like it doesn't stink if you choose to do so - but in the end, BSU went 14-0 against the nation's 98th strength of schedule while Alabama went 14-0 against one of the toughest schedules played in 2009. |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseFor all those people that say that BSU should have to earn recognition as an undefeated team, the solution is simple. Get your team to play Boise!
Remember earlier this season when the BSU athletic director offered to fly anywhere to play anybody, on Boise's dime? SEC? Big Ten? Boise would pay itself to go anywhere to play anybody anywhere. The number of schools that took them up on the offer: Zero. Alabama, Florida, Texas, and the rest must be terrified to play Boise. Why spend money to pay Charleston Southern to come play when Boise will come and play for free? Obviously....Charleston Southern is a sure win. Boise is not. Everybody demands Boise play a tougher schedule, but who will actually agree to be part of a tougher schedule? |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseBoise State compiled a 14-0 record against the likes of Miami of Ohio, UC Davis, Tulsa, Hawaii, Bowling Green, San Jose State, LaTech, Utah State, Nevada and New Mexico State.
Ten of Alabama's 14 opponents on the other hand played in post season bowls. Alabama beat the three previous national champions on their way to the title this year. Look - 14 wins against Popcorn State Junior College For Blind and Deaf Women teams does NOT put you on par with Alabama's 14 wins, against 9 SEC teams, Virginia Tech, and Texas. Call it what you will, and act like it doesn't stink if you choose to do so - but in the end, BSU went 14-0 against the nation's 98th strength of schedule while Alabama went 14-0 against one of the toughest schedules played in 2009. No - the trip to the White House should be for Alabama only. You guys won the Fiesta Bowl. Congrats. I didn't realize that among the bling awarded to the Fiesta winner was an all expense paid trip to the White House. If you want it - EARN IT - don't cry gripe and moan about the have nots being left out in the cold. Leave your conference - play independent - schedule at least seven mid to top teams from conferences like the Big 12, SEC, Big 10, ACC, and Pac 10 - and THEN see if you're still undefeated at the end of the year. Something tells me to put my money on the snowball's chance. |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White Houseboise state and anyone who supports them need to calm down, and prove it on the field next year. Yeah - going FOURTEEN-and-0 this year just isn't enough, is it...
"its ludicrous" (sic), indeed. |

Hatch to Obama: Invite Boise State to White HouseThe stadium was just expanded last year...the luxury boxes were just installed and the south end was just enclosed around the varsity center. You have to remember taht 14 years ago, this school played the likes of Eastern Washington, Weber State (Utah), and Northern Arizona in Big Sky Division 1AA league play...give them a break!
