Urban Meyer meets with Coach K

Posted on: April 3, 2010 10:46 am

A couple of tidbits out of Gainesville:

Urban Meyer met with Mike Krzyzewski at some point during the offseason to get advice on how to handle his health issues. Coach K took time off in 1999 and 2002 for hip surgery. If Duke wins tonight, I intend to ask K here in Indianapolis about his meeting with The Urbanator. Stay tuned to this space for an update.

Also, running back Jeff Demps ran a 10.11 100 meters on Friday during the Florida Relays. That's the fastest time in the world this year. We need to see more of that breakaway speed on the football field. In his first two seasons, Demps has averaged six carries per game. That should change with a certain Mr. Tebow no longer carrying the ball.

Speaking of quarterback, Meyer said he plans to play two of them in the fall. That's sort of a revelation with everyone assuming the John Brantley era was set to begin. Meyer basically said that redshirt freshman Jordan Reed will be in on third-down short yardage situations. The 6-foot-3 Reed is a converted quarterback who had been working at tight end in the spring. Now there are reports Reed has been working in the Wildcat and throwing some passes as well. And Meyer loves him.

"I think we do (plan to play two quarterbacks) because we have to," Meyer told Florida Today. "On third down and three I know what we want to do and Johnny's (Brantley) probably not going to do it just because he's not that kind of player. Everybody said we just ran Tim because he was a great player. That's partially true ... Jordan Reed has proven he can do it."

Disgruntled Bulldog fan,

Obviously you care about what Meyer does as you often post about him. In fact, it seems you post more about the Gators than about your Bulldogs. I call fans like you, anti-fans. You don't support teams, but rather hate on certain teams. Instead of posting about how improved the Bulldogs and how they are going to beat the Gators, you post about how Florida was beaten by Alabama. Saban has had plenty of covereage, but your hate blinds you and makes you irrational. First thing is to recognize that you have a problem and then seek some professional help.

cry us a river XZcrymasterZX

i dont believe im confused , from the post of yours im reading right here, it sure looks like crying to me . i cant speak for anyone else, but i've had post deleted and ive been reported before, but i dont sit on here and cry about it . if you wouldnt of written something to get reported for then maybe you wouldnt have anything to cry about . also looks like your crying about florida getting so much media attention . florida's lost 2 games in last 2 years, one year they won the national championship and the other year they lost in a conference championship game to the team who won the national championship game , sure sounds like a team who'd get media attention to me

hmm so Reed is basically tebow Jr or tebow lite, and brantley is like another version of chris leek(sp). also i got big question for urban you had the fastest back field with demps/rainey how arent they not your feature backs?? way way way too much speed to be on the sideline.

Dont like the idea of another 2 QB tandum.. surely worked with the first national champion team but very Very few quarterbacks can do what Tebow did.
Better Option: Find a short yardage running back.

But i was reported and had post deleted 3 times over cry baby gator fans. For the one that said the gators are that good and thats why they get some much press. UNLESS i am mistaken the gators were SKULL DRUG in Atlanta on the night that stared mervins NIGHTMARE. Has Saban and co. gotten any press,   NOTT    Get use to it gator nation, IF the gators get to ATLANTA, it will be a rerun from last year. Mr Saban owns mervin and the SEC.

There is a reason the Gators recieve alot of press attention, they are good!  Why wouldn't the press want to write about a winning team, with a winnning coach, and star athletes?  In the mid 90's, the Gators recieved alot of press attention, actually the whole state of Florida's football team did.  I think it's great that Coach Meyer met with Coach K. cabout how to cope with his health isses and matain a focused mind to coach a championship caliber team to another run at a title.

xz, maybe they pick on you because you cry like a little girl . when you win , you get attention . florida got a little attention back in mid 90's and then again in the late 2000's, other than their winning years, they were never talked about . cant help noone wants to talk about your team , go cry me a river
