Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe said Friday that essentially the Big Ten is done shopping in his conference.

Beebe spoke to Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany Friday after the league invited Nebraska. Asked during a conference call Beebe said, "At this point, as far as we're concerned my understanding is [the Big Ten is done with Big 12 teams]."

It looks like Missouri is OUT of Big Ten expansion plans. Hello, Mountain West? Stay tuned. I'm hoping to talk to Delany directly about it.

When asked later if he was necessarily done with expanding to Big 12 Conference schools, Delany shook his head no.

"I wouldn't want to talk about a particular school," Delany said later the press conference to welcome Nebraska.

Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

I think the addition of Missouri has to do with the addition of Notre Dame.  I think if ND comes willingly, we can add Missouri, BC, Syracuse and Rutgers to round out the 16.  If they don't, we can go to option b:  take Rutgers, Syracuse, and a third team from the Big East, force it to collapse, and make ND decide what to do with its "Olympic Sports", which for travel reasons would be a move to the Big Ten.  Only if we don't add three Big East teams would Missouri get in, and it would be preferable if it did.  Either way, the Big Ten has been fairly shrewd with its moves with the Big Ten Network, so I think they will make the right decisions.

Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

OMG! The yackety-yack of fans left clueless rolls on & on & on some more. NONE of us know for sure if there will be "superconferences" of 16 teams, whether teams like Missouri are totally out of the Big Ten expansion picture, whether the Big Ten will change their name to something that makes more numerical sense so that SEC homers can grasp it or whether we'll just leave it as is, the traditional/historical name that MOST folks can figure out who's being talked about. So many confused fans with nothing better to do than blab, blab & blab some more with their "expert" ideas & opinions on how things will turn out. I, myself, don't get that excited about all of this because it's out of my hands & I'll live a little longer worrying less about things I can't control. I think I'll just leave it up to the commissioners, AD's & even coaches to get this all in some sort of order that makes an inkling of sense. And even as much as I want to see a fair playoff system for all teams in all divisions [D1/FCS only one not there yet!], I'll just crack a cold one from time to time & read what progress, if any, has been made. Afterall, I believe this reallignment has been a "plan" for some time now & none of the "big wigs" have really listened to us "low-lifes" yet---and they never will. With that being said; I welcome the University of Nebraska [Lincoln] into the Big Ten. Did you hear me, Lincoln,NE??? Yell

Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

Beebe is a snake and if Delany really told him that they weren't going for MU would anybody really believe that to be true.  This is the largest poker game ever played. What I can't believe is that OU is not looking out for Number 1, how can they say they are with Texas? Wilkinson is rolling over in his grave.  What the hell is Stoops thinking? Can't believe that OU is sucking up to UT? Who owns who?

Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

If the unlikely happens, and the Big 12 South schools decide to stay in the Big 12, Does the Big 12 go after two more schools to replace NU and CU?  If they do, from a geographical standpoint, the most obvious place to look would be in Texas, i.e. TCU, Houston, etc.  Is anybody that were fans back when it was still the Big 8, worry about an even bigger presence of Texas schools?  I know - it probably isn't going to happen, but humor me a little bit.

I don't know what you mean throwing Nebraska out there saying Missouri isn't confident playing them.
2003 Missouri 41 Nebraska 242005 Missouri 41 Nebraska 24 2007 Missouri 41 Nebraska 62008 Missouri 52 AT Nebraska 17
Missouri played OU well both times in 2007

Bevo blew this league up, How does the Big 12 implode and justify moving to the PAC-10 and all the traveling costs. Seriously, you think Pac10 football better than the Big 12?? I laugh in your face, That is like the SEC imploding to go the ACC??  Cmon Texas, you were all talk and no show, Bevo network and you go slumming to the PAC10, what a joke? You are better off inviting and making NU and CU pay up for leaving early, if all things in Texas are so great why not just add, TCU and Houston to the big 12 and move the Oklahoma schools to the North Division. Speaking of OU and OSU, really, have you lost your minds and just follow Texas around and beg for leftovers. What a bunch of fools?? Switzer, Wilkinson, and Fairbanks built that program and Stoops is just a follower, wow for an Ohio guy, no guts!! Wow just outright shameful......Sooners bowing down to Longhorns!!! Absolutely unfathomable.  As for Nebraska, at least they were looking out for themselves, a bold move but at least they land on their feet.  What if these Big 12 schools bolt for the Pac 10 and they don't get what they want and no stability in down cycles. I am struggling to see what Austin, Norman, Lubbock, and Stillwater have in common with Corvallis, Los Angeles, and Eugene.  The Arizona schools might as well pack up and join the Mtn West, they are never going to see a big time bowl ever again.  Oklahoma may get left behind if Texas and A&M get to go to the SEC! No matter what happens how does the South Division Teams justify joining a lesser conference with USC in a down cycle?

i would like to see mizzu in the sec but that won't happen more than likely. they will end up in the mwc...the sec would be a good fit for them...Texas a&m will be in the SEC so they will need to add at least 1 more school...maybe even 3 more schools...clemson, florida state and miami...

Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

I really don't think Missouri is out like everyone is saying. I am hoping the Big Ten adds OU, Mizzou, Texas, A&M.

I do not think that Missouri would be invited over Kansas or K-State.  Why go further east than Kansas?  What does Missouri do (other than Kansas City market)?  Their football and basketball are both on and off again.  Kansas and K-State are very good at basketball and the Mountain West is already an excellent basketball conference.  Both BYU and Utah are amongst the top twenty all-time in basketball wins.  In the current Big 12 only Kansas is ahead of both schools and Texas is tied with BYU.  Add Kansas and you have a conference with three teams in the top 20 all time in basketball wins.  And is there a tougher place to play basketball than THE PIT (okay a few but very few).

Utah is probably not going anywhere (unless the Big 12 stays relatively in tack and they invite BYU & Utah).  Why would the PAC-10 take them?  Yes, they're good at basketball (historically if not recently) and very good at football but SLC isn't a huge market (31st I believe) and they share that market with BYU.

I think the MWC has learned it's lesson from the old WAC (16 team nightmare).  Remember it's all about the Benjamins so who knows.

Missouri apparently out of Big Ten expansion plan

The big ten DOES NOT want Notre Dame.  Notre Dame was given their chance years ago and they said no.  They are not in the big tens radar for expansion.

Im not sure why everyone keeps bringing up Notre Dame because when the big ten was making comments about the scools they were considering Notre Lame wasnt on the list.
Thats funny stuff right there! The arrogance of big ten fans has gone to this now? Maybe they aren't on the list because they have repeatedly told the Big Ten, "not interested and don't need you", and the big ten commish unlike you has taken the message. Wouldn't take ND in FB, lmao! thanks for that one.
