Pat Haden says Reggie Bush did not apologize

Haden, USC's AD, was afraid to even take Bush's call. But Haden told the L.A. Times that Bush did not apologize during two recent phone calls contrary to what USA Today reported on Friday.

The NCAA has forced USC to disassociate itself from Bush. That's why Haden wasn't sure he could even take Bush's calls.

How this helps Bush or USC is beyond me. Bush is acting like a boyfriend who can't commit. Just say the words, "I'm sorry I screwed the entire university. I'll never be able to look myself in the mirror again."

Pat Haden says Reggie Bush did not apologize

No, this about sums it up-"if you don't want to be called one, don't act like one."

Pat Haden says Reggie Bush did not apologize

Dennis, nearly all those who read Bush's many comments to Haden, as retold to USA Today, would easily conclude that Bush was apologizing for his actions that brought shame on himself and severe penalties to USC.
I don't know what's behind Haden's subsequent quote that Bush did not use the word ``apology'' to competing paper L.A. Times, which was was scooped, but it's a weak use of semantics. Everyone who read the USA Today story understands Bush was apologizing.
Mike Bianchi, in Saturday's Orlando Sentinel, wrote that Bush certainly could return his Heisman (both the player and the school receive a Heisman). Better yet, Mike suggested that Bush send his Heisman to Vince Young, who finished second in voting, and then published the address of Young's Tennessee Titans.

Pat Haden says Reggie Bush did not apologize

Look, I'm no fan of Reggie Bush but to think this is one rogue booster and one rogue player is ludicrous, especially considering the O.J. Mayo recruitment.
How many players have we seen decide to sit the bench at USC rather than play at another Division I school ?
Granted, it's a nice bench and it's surrounded by beautiful women but the goal in high school is the NFL. How did sharing time work for Joe (that's a mighty nice Landrover) McKnight ? McKnight came to USC as a certain first round pick and left as a 4th round pick ?
The one who should really be issuing an apology is Mike Garrett.
Seriously, the USC program has as many issues as the SMU program once did. But the punishment doesn't fit the crime. It's similar to the problems oklahoma faced under Switzer.

To Mauxdeverite:
Why do you write a comment like an idiot?  Are you proud of the fact that you sound like a backwoods inbred racist?  "Kept him on the plantation?"  Nuthin' wrong with a man gettin' paid'?  What are you, a bad replay of a 90's ghetto flick?  Reggie and his gold digging momma worked USC for money, illegally.  That's called cheating in college you dipsh*t.  His greed to get paid before going pro lost him respect and screwed over all the legitimate alumni and players at USC.  Fight on?  For what?  He's a millionaire several times over and doesn't even have the decency to try and help salvage the college he put in the tank.  You are a moron and in desperate need of an education.

Sorry USC, but it is your responsibility to properly vet, educate, and protect your players.  What percentage of 19 year olds in the world could possibly possess the foresight and self-control to turn down 100,000 dollars?  Clearly Reggie Bush has damaged the idealic image that college football is all about school spirit and the love of the game, as well as the aspirations of those young men who dreamed of wearing the Cardinal and Gold, but the way USC has attempted to singularily shift blame to this sole individual is equally as immature as a 19 year old kid dreaming of owning a Cadillac.  If you wish Bush to own up to it, then you should man up as well USC, you played with fire and you got burned.  When there's plenty of blame to go around, the best solution is to stop pointing fingers and show some humility, some restraint, not run to the LA Times.

Pat Haden says Reggie Bush did not apologize

IF Pat Haden had said that Reggie apologized, that would be admitting guilt, and there appeal would be blown out the window.  This is Bush's way of saying sorry without saying it and admitting guilt.

You are a incompetent, uneducated young man.  Do you have any idea how much an education at USC costs?  I am sure you don't.  The fact is it was FREE to him.  Not to mention the money for meals, travel, etc.  I just love how a certain portion of the population ALWAYS want to make every situation RACIAL.  Do you know why?????  Because they have no other means to argue!!  This section of the population cannot win an argument without bringing out the race card.  You are truly pathetic and I can only hope if you have children thatn they see the error of your ways.  Good luck......

No you can't blame a man for taking care of his family all right, and it doesn't matter if you lie, cheat, or steal to do it does it?  Saying USC exploited Bush is beyond ridiculous!  Bush got illicit money and USC gets punished for Bush's actions, but that is just social justice too isn't it?  Social Justice = racism

Pat Haden says Reggie Bush did not apologize

Save your breath... "Mauxdeverite"'s comments fall under the heading of "Just another case of THE MAN tryin' to keep a brutha down"...  So many double-negatives in there, I actually came out thinking it was Reggie Bush, not Curt Flood, who brought about Free Agency in Major League Baseball (that statement made about as much sense as Mauxdeverite's)
