Incredibly, coach in charge of Iowa 13 honored

The Attack of Iowa's Mr. Evil Workout took a bizarre and baffling twist last week.

You'll recall that in January, 13 Hawkeyes were sent to the hospital suffering from rhabdomyolysis, a serious affliction that causes the breakdown of skeletal muscle due to overexertion. After an in-house school investigation, no one was found responsible. Not the head coach, not the trainers, not the strength coach. Thankfully, not the players. As far as we know, no one was disciplined. In a 19-page report, the school basically blamed the workout itself for the rhabdo.

Bad Evil Workout. It will never be allowed on campus again.

Since that time one player reportedly sought and was give release from his scholarship. Another reportedly is still suffering headaches. So what happened last week? Iowa's head trainer Chris Doyle -- the man in charge of those hospitalized players in late January -- was named assistant coach of the year by Kirk Ferentz.

Now, I can understand the honor at some point, but not to Doyle and not three months after the players Doyle was responsible for were in the hospital.

It's one thing not accepting blame. We got enough of that recently from Notre Dame. It's another being arrogant and insensitive.

Not only was Doyle honored, Ferentz handed out the award for the first time according to the link. Ferentz plans to make it an annual honor. Note to Kirk: Would it have been outrageous to maybe wait another year to begin giving out this award? You know, maybe let the whole rhabdo thing blow over.

Apparently that's exactly what Iowa thinks has happened.

promote:  to help or encourage to exist or flourish

Exactly. I disagree with doing this, which any state that passes the same sex marriage law is doing. Why are you having a problem with my opinion. It's just MY opinion. You WILL NOT change it. So stop trying.
but let's just say for argument's sake that it did encourage homosexuality.   so what?  why does that frighten you?  explain the roots of your fear

Ok. Now for another can of worms that I really don't want to debate, cuz I am sure you will. But here goes:

Because I am Catholic and the Bible says Homosexuality is wrong. I ain't a Homo-phobe either. It's just what I have been taught and believe for 53 years. OK?

Now have at it.

allowing gay marriage does not encourage people to be gay.  it allows people who already are gay to marry.  just like straight marriage doesnt encourage straightness.   are you able to make that subtle distinction or is your mind not nimble enough??

but let's just say for argument's sake that it did encourage homosexuality.   so what?  why does that frighten you?  explain the roots of your fear

but with homosexuality, people ARE or they ARENT
Then what about Bi-sexuality? You leave no wiggle room for this. Explain please.
the vary fact that you dont want homosexuality to be visible, and that you make an analogy to drug use shows how warped your mind is

lol.....I know my mind is warped son.....welcome to my world......
it is clear that you believe it to be immoral and are very afraid of it.  ignorance is sad.

horrible analogy.   drug use is to some extent a choice.  it can become an addiction.  but there are varying levels of activity ranging from none to a heck of a lot.  so if I offered everyone free crack, then for some people I probably am encouraging them to try crack even they never had before.

but with homosexuality, people ARE or they ARENT.   they may have to hide it, but allowing them to marry isnt going to ADD any new homosexuals.  so if you mean 'encourage' the behavior by 'promote' then you are wrong.  allowing them marriage doesnt encourage any behavior that isnt already going on, it simply allows it to be more out in the open.

the vary fact that you dont want homosexuality to be visible, and that you make an analogy to drug use shows how warped your mind is. it is clear that you believe it to be immoral and are very afraid of it.  ignorance is sad.

I mean how you treat people
You don't know me and have no idea how I treat people.
dont' hate people based on things that they can't control like orientation

ummm....where did I say I hate ANYONE? Don't try and put words in my mouth or make false accusations like Treemax. You people are something else.
if you make an idiotic statement,

Again, your opinion..and it means nothing on this message board.
explain to me how allowing gay marriage "promotes" homosexuality?

My God son, if I have ta 'splain this to you, then you are a lost cause. Please tell me you were joking. But allow me to make an analogy.

If you allow drug addicts free drugs, then aren't you promoting addiction?
