The Attack of Iowa's Mr. Evil Workout took a bizarre and baffling twist last week.

You'll recall that in January, 13 Hawkeyes were sent to the hospital suffering from rhabdomyolysis, a serious affliction that causes the breakdown of skeletal muscle due to overexertion. After an in-house school investigation, no one was found responsible. Not the head coach, not the trainers, not the strength coach. Thankfully, not the players. As far as we know, no one was disciplined. In a 19-page report, the school basically blamed the workout itself for the rhabdo.

Bad Evil Workout. It will never be allowed on campus again.

Since that time one player reportedly sought and was give release from his scholarship. Another reportedly is still suffering headaches. So what happened last week? Iowa's head trainer Chris Doyle -- the man in charge of those hospitalized players in late January -- was named assistant coach of the year by Kirk Ferentz.

Now, I can understand the honor at some point, but not to Doyle and not three months after the players Doyle was responsible for were in the hospital.

It's one thing not accepting blame. We got enough of that recently from Notre Dame. It's another being arrogant and insensitive.

Not only was Doyle honored, Ferentz handed out the award for the first time according to the link. Ferentz plans to make it an annual honor. Note to Kirk: Would it have been outrageous to maybe wait another year to begin giving out this award? You know, maybe let the whole rhabdo thing blow over.

Apparently that's exactly what Iowa thinks has happened.

interesting that you have been around the 'planet' a few times (what that like by land or did you orbit it?) and yet have only seen "several" different cultures.  LOL.  your use of the english is breathtaking.  perhaps you were trying for the world "many," as in many different....

As far as KF not leaving, well maybe he has it made there in a comfort zone and is too scared to try and go to another program where 8-9-10 wins is un-acceptable, or considered a failure. Ever think of it that way? At least Saban is not afraid to reach for the Prize. But your fan base seems ok with mediocrity so have fun with that.
To some people winning 8-9-10 games is a must because thats all they have in their life. Like the Alabama fan who was going to give Cam Newton a million dollars to take a lie detector test.

What you think is your opinion. It is NOT factual information. And YOU are not a source. Like I said before, you are just being coy. Stop with your games. But alas, you cannot help it with your mind set, so I'll give ya a kitchen pass.
I understand its my opinion...thanks for stating the obvious. I also realize that it's not against the NCAA rules to oversign but it is unethical. the Big 10 has banned such practices for the past 10 years. But because winning is everything in SEC land, you must do it to survive.

Again, I will take a 7,8,9 win team and have a man of character than a man who doesn't care about loyalty to players or teams.

I mean how you treat people.  dont' hate people based on things that they can't control like orientation.  if you make an idiotic statement, then I am going to call you an idiot.   i am talking more about actions and emotions when i say degrade.

explain to me how allowing gay marriage "promotes" homosexuality?  you have a right to your opinions, but I also have a right to ask to to explain why you believe that.  you don't have to answer, but I can try.

They should be proud of that

Why?
It doesn't "promote" anything (to the idiot from alabama).

I'll assume you're talking about me. I'm no idiot sir. I have a degree and have been around this planet a few times living with several different cultures. So please don't speak of which you have no know;edge.(
thus in your dumb mind stopping 'promoting' homosexuality)

Once again, my mind is clear and I have an "opinion." To me, his statement seemed as though he was proud of this fact. I don't think it is something to be proud about.
real men don't boost their self esteem by degrading others.  that's a sign of low esteem.

Interesting that you have called me an "idiot" and "dumb" in one paragraph yet say this about me.

Pot meet Kettle.....again, another hypocrite...why am I not surprised?

I think he cheats. Oversigning is unethical. To respond to your accusation of me only siting one source...thats all you asked for.

What you think is your opinion. It is NOT factual information. And YOU are not a source. Like I said before, you are just being coy. Stop with your games. But alas, you cannot help it with your mind set, so I'll give ya a kitchen pass.
Saban left many teams hanging for the betterment of himself...KF had chances to leave and did not. There is very little to compare.

I have no problem with anyone leaving one job for another to better themselves.I do have a problem with losers like Bobby Petrino and the way he crawled outta Atlanta in the middle of the night, during the season, to take another job at Arkansas. Big difference dude. Your tellin this board you have never quit one job for another? Riigghhhtttt...again, hypocrite.

As far as KF not leaving, well maybe he has it made there in a comfort zone and is too scared to try and go to another program where 8-9-10 wins is un-acceptable, or considered a failure. i am straight, like football, beer, and cars.  i am as american guy as guys can come.   but i am also smart, informed and courageous.  the concept of sex btw two men is gross to me, but that does not mean that I have a right to make those people's lives harder.  study after study shows that sexual preference is inherited, not a choice.  there are these amazing studies that involve teachers who have been teaching kindergarten their wholes lives.  the ask them to predict in their class who will be gay or straight, and they can do it with like 95% accuracy.  the study followed the students 20 years to see what they were like at age 25.  the teachers could tell by certain behaviors and mannerisms.  my point?   i side with the iowa guy who is not embarrassed that triax brought up that Iowa was the first state to allow same sex marriage.  They should be proud of that.  It doesn't "promote" anything (to the idiot from alabama).  It simply allows them the same marriage rights as straight couples.  Do you really think that if they reversed the law (thus in your dumb mind stopping 'promoting' homosexuality) that the the rate would go down?  no.  it would stay at what it always has been throughout human histority: 8-10%   real men don't boost their self esteem by degrading others.  that's a sign of low esteem.

Wow, are you really proud of the fact that Iowa promotes Homosexuality? I'm sure the rest of your fellow Hawkeye fans are cringing at this post....congratulations. Most of this started on another thread thatdamnhawk. ..namely the Saban statue thread 2 days ago. A couple of your brethren Hawkeyee fans ( namely Trimax and flasucksGOIOWA) pounded Alabama and Saban, and then progressed to demeaning our state in spades. So this nothing more than "an eye for an eye" so to speak.

Like the old saying goes, " dont dish it out iffin ya can't take it".

Wow...You are ignorant and naive. First, I am not cringing about promoting homosexuality. Everyone has their own beliefs and religiously I dont agree with it..BUT I also have a gay member in my extended family and I don't have any prejudice against him or anyone else who chooses that lifestyle. So no it doesn't make me cringe.

To be honest, I am probably like alot of other Iowa fans or even fans of other Big 10 teams who get sick and tired of reading nothing but negative crap on CBS. 7 of the 9 articles on CBS yesterday were negative Big 10 articles when there is plenty of SEC crap going on. Then all we read about is how great the SEC is bc you have won so many titles. Yes, the SEC is slightly better as a whole but not as dominant as you all make it out to be. The SEC does have inherant advantages over the rest of the teams/conferences and frankly myself and others think its a joke.

My shot at Saban was purely about his ethics, not his winning. Go back to the thread and look. I am sorry you don't like it that I am not a fan of him. I think he cheats. Oversigning is unethical. To respond to your accusation of me only siting one source...thats all you asked for. I have read many articles with Saban saying he doesn't think there is anything wrong with it. He has admitted it himself. Comparing Saban to Kirk Ferentz is comparing apples and oranges. KF doesn't have a NC...Saban does. Saban oversigns...KF does not. SEC vs Big 10. Saban left many teams hanging for the betterment of himself...KF had chances to leave and did not. There is very little to compare.

I also only defended the state of Iowa as some idiot said Alabama was a smarter state than Iowa. Statistics show that midwestern and Northeastern are the some of the smartest states while southern states (for whatever reason) are consistently lower in standardized testing.

Look, we come from all walks of life and we aren't going to agree on everything. Some of you live in the south and you live and breathe football. Winning at all costs appears to be a way of life...at least it comes off that way to many people. Many of those people on this board appear to be "elitist" and mock and ridicule the Big 10 or tear down certain teams on a consistent basis...and frankly its getting old so we stand up and defend ourselves. Thats where I am coming from. Like I said, Saban is a great coach...i just don't care for the character and individual he is. Agree to disagree.

Triaxmax, so this means I cannot have an opinion just because I joined today? We all joined this site at some time in our lives, but we all had opinions before we joined, otherwise we would not have joined in the first place to post our opinions. Just becuase you dont like my opinion does not give you the right to discount it based on my longevity on this site.
What it means is you are a troll. Creating other alias so that it looks like even more people are dissing Iowa. We aren't as stupid as you make us out to be.

Krik Ferentz, "ignorant" wow, you, just WOW, I cannot fathom for the life of me how you could ever see that.  Unbelievable.  He is a very intelligent man.  As far as "limited" success, I guess if the only thing you base that on is National Championships, sure, that is possible.  But, then again, you on have 1 of those every year.  So then every other coach failed?  Absolutely not.  The Iowa football program is in great hands with a great man.

As far as Steve Alfraud, he took the Iowa program to a new level all right, a downward spiral.  He wasn't a good fit at Iowa, plain and simple.  I have multiple stories of how that is, from people I know and trust.  And, quite honest, don't care if you believe me or not, I know they are true.  And calling Alfraud anything close to Woodenesque? Is ridiculous, and in NEW MEXICO

If Alfraud is Woodenesque, then Kirk Ferentz is Vince Lombardi

I also love the overrated conference take, whatever, just whatever.  The Big 10 has a long long history of success.  Is the SEC king of the College Football World right now, sure is, can't argue that, however, calling the Big 10 overrated is ignorant.

Iowa was one of the first states to allow same sex marrage

But yeah, my look alabama was a bit stereotypical,

Shocking.
if your going to take a swipe at the state i was born in,
