Incredibly, coach in charge of Iowa 13 honored

The Attack of Iowa's Mr. Evil Workout took a bizarre and baffling twist last week.

You'll recall that in January, 13 Hawkeyes were sent to the hospital suffering from rhabdomyolysis, a serious affliction that causes the breakdown of skeletal muscle due to overexertion. After an in-house school investigation, no one was found responsible. Not the head coach, not the trainers, not the strength coach. Thankfully, not the players. As far as we know, no one was disciplined. In a 19-page report, the school basically blamed the workout itself for the rhabdo.

Bad Evil Workout. It will never be allowed on campus again.

Since that time one player reportedly sought and was give release from his scholarship. Another reportedly is still suffering headaches. So what happened last week? Iowa's head trainer Chris Doyle -- the man in charge of those hospitalized players in late January -- was named assistant coach of the year by Kirk Ferentz.

Now, I can understand the honor at some point, but not to Doyle and not three months after the players Doyle was responsible for were in the hospital.

It's one thing not accepting blame. We got enough of that recently from Notre Dame. It's another being arrogant and insensitive.

Not only was Doyle honored, Ferentz handed out the award for the first time according to the link. Ferentz plans to make it an annual honor. Note to Kirk: Would it have been outrageous to maybe wait another year to begin giving out this award? You know, maybe let the whole rhabdo thing blow over.

Apparently that's exactly what Iowa thinks has happened.

A lot of people can't find certain states on a map.  Its not b/c the state is obscure.  It's b/c the person is ignorant.  The states with the highest rates of illiteracy are lousianna, your alabama, and mississippi, last time I checked.   For them to widely make fun of any SEC fans is childish, but it doesn't change the fact that in general there IS an education problem down there.

We are talking football here.   FAIL.

No we were talking cheating and in the words of the great Triamax, Cheating is cheating. Sports Know no bounds and neither do probations. We had a probation in football extended one time for the Basketball program getting hit with something. Cheating is cheating no matter what. All I here is how pure the Big 10 is yet they reign as king supreme right now on that front and from the looks of it they are not slowing down with UM being in the news lately for illegal workouts and now OSU about to be hammered by the NCAA.

See the funny thing is I would ne even be here if it was not for some of your fellow Iowans slamming a tradition at our school. I dont like posting like this, I prefer to be on the front end of football debates and not childish "my school is better than yours" posts, but you called us out. Funny thing is I really dont care about your school or the program in general, just wanted to come and exact some revenge for the ignorant posters who came and blasted a tradition of my school.

One of your own fans likes to use the analogy that we as fans could not even find Iowa on a map if asked to. I look at it this way, thats not really a good point to make as it shows how obscure you really are and that you have never accomplished anything to make people want to know where it is. So blame these types of pepople for an SEc presence on your thread right now, its payback for their childish deeds.

The Big 10 thats who. They had 8 schools penalized for major infractions during that time frame in all sports.

We are talking football here.   FAIL.    How many big 10 ten football programs were hit with major sanctions in the last 10 years compared with the SEC?

And perhaps you forgot all the SEC bad calls by refs that SEC fans were complaining about the last two years

And you saw Refs get fired and or spend time away from the game too. In any situation you will have people who dont know or do their jobs correctly. It was never shown to have a major impact on any games that I remember and if so then the NCAA should have stepped in. That is on them. We as a conference do not have a pipeline to the NCAA as evidence by how many teams in recent past have been on probation for offenses deemed necessary for major penalties. I love how we always get singled out for cheating but yet we have the NCAA in our pockets only to have a team get put on probation not long after that. Tennessee is on the list right now for the next in line to get a slap from the NCAA for various offenses. Imagine how bad that could be if we did not have them in our pockets(sarcasm).
You always seem to have a slant towards the SEC being evil and cheating, but who was the conference that was the most penalized during the 2000-2010 time frame? The Big 10 thats who. They had 8 schools penalized for major infractions during that time frame in all sports. So it seems like we are not the biggest cheaters out there right now, your conference is. And with Tosu getting ready to be in NCAA hell for a good long time it looks like the league is going to be down for a bit longer, seeing as they have been carrying the Big-10 for a good long time now.

Or all those complaints by SEC fans two years ago were just whining

You know my answer to fans complaining is going to be they are whining, why even ask this one. Two years ago was when Bama won the title and the only game I remember there being an issue with was Tennessee, oh wait and one call in the LSU game. Neither of which would have had an outcome on the game. LSU fans will say different, but he would not have scored, nor would they have moved any further down the field, that Bama team was unstoppable.
The Tennessee game had one play that was a dead ball foul and would have resulted in us getting the Ball with a few seconds left as we recovered the blocked kick. The game was over, then he removed his helmet, as was shown many times on sportscenter and youtube. Kiffin just wanted a soapbox to make a name for himself seeing as he had never done anything but be a lousy NFL coach and a coordinator at USC.

It simply means they put up a smoke screen to avoid dealing with the real crimes being hidden.

lmbo......are you for real dude???.......So the NCAA manufactured a case to put a SEC school on probation, so it could then PICK which SEC team it wanted to win the N.C.?

this is getting to be some serious  bullshizz folks.

I guess you also believe the U.S. Govt had a

hand in the 911 terrorists attacks huh?

Jeez.....Take acid trips much?

Just because you're on probation doesn't disprove my statement.  It simply means they put up a smoke screen to avoid dealing with the real crimes being hidden.  Could you be more ignorant?  And perhaps you forgot all the SEC bad calls by refs that SEC fans were complaining about the last two years...SEC fans complaining that it looked like the refs were trying to help certain teams win the conference title.  They even had to pass a conference rule making complaining about the refs by coaches illegal.  No one is out there helping the SEC win titles...not so sure about that.  Or all those complaints by SEC fans two years ago were just whining?

Doesn't hurt at Tidefann...SEC fans have been doing it since last fall whether they want to admit it or not.  I was referring to the whole board but you assumed it was aimed only at you.  You might be the exception...but in general, SEC fans have been rude as hell since last fall.  This isn't they payback, it's the proof to their lies.  The shoes not on the other foot, its in the mouth of the SEC liars.

It would be easy to prove Saban cheats if the SEC didn't have the NCAA in their back pocket.

You do realize that Alabama is currently on NCAA probation? How can we have them in our pockets if we are in their doghouse...what a moronic statement. Could you be more ignorant? I am envisioning you as maybe around 17-22 with a low-end job, maybe still in school but not looking at the world with anything but conspiracy theorist eyes. no one is out to get the Big-10, no one is out to Help The SEC win titles and No one is going to respect you if you cannot come up with more intelligent posts.

Seems the shoe was on the other foot and we had the chance to exact a measure of revenge.

What he said.
