The NCAA has announced a 3 p.m. ET teleconference Tuesday to discuss a "decision regarding Louisiana State University."

The call is expected to deal with the findings in the D.J. McCarthy-Akiem Hicks case from 2009. LSU self-reported violations regarding McCarthy, a former receivers coach, in the recruitment of Hicks. Hicks never played at LSU. McCarthy has left the program.

The announcement is not expected to deal with the Will Lyles, the mentor/talent scout who reportedly has been paid $26,000 by the school for his recruiting services.

What is this $286K spent on recruiting by LSU that keeps being brought up here? Please point me to that story

LSU presser re: infractions

you're right. You handled it properly after 3600+ imoproper phone calls and are now tied to a known street agent who you paid over 26K (not 6K) to... I'd be anything but bragging about this. Lyles hasn't been addressed, nor has the 286K on recruiting.

But, you did self report, just exactly like Ohio State.. At least you have that working for you...

gobucks, don't be sore because LSU handled it's actions swiftly and appropriately in a way that (a) did not bring embarressment to itself and (b) didn't give others much too talk about except as an example of how to handle your schools infractions.  Also, nobody that I know of is worried about the whole Lyles issue because we have been able to produce to the NCAA with what was provided to us for our $6000.

LSU presser re: infractions

Unlike ohio state, LSU self-reported this incident as soon as they knew anything.  We never let the player on the field and fired the coach immediately.  Sound familiar?  I did not think so.

However, if LSU get probation on this and something really pops up on Lyles...
